“Quirky, wonderful, relaxing windmill xxx”

What am amazing holiday we had here for 2 weeks in august. The windmill was very remote, 9 km to the nearest shop, but what a fantastic location. The views down to the sea were stunning, the tranquillity was so relaxing. The windmill was well equipped and very clean, it had everything we needed, even beach mats and parasols to take to the beach with us. Our 3 children loved staying here, the bedroom at the top with a telescope and fantastic views was their favourite room. The pool was a bit small, but you could still jump in it, and it was kept meticulously clean by Jose, who popped by every day. Jose and Karin really looked after us, and we enjoyed our chats. They bought us fresh grapes from their vine and fresh eggs from their chickens. They even turned up on our daughter's birthday with a present, so sweet. Look out for the yellow van every morning about 9am, he is the bread man, and if you wave at him, he will stop and sell you delicious fresh bread and rolls for breakfast. There is a big supermarket called continent 9km away, we stocked up here regularly, they had everything you could need. The windmill had so many beautiful lizards, gorgeous plants and flowers. It was a piece of heaven for 2 weeks. There are so many stunning beaches to visit. Dolphin observation boat trip is a must. A trip to Castro Marin is a must. We were lucky enough to be there for the medieval festival in august. Tavira is a lovely town to wander round in the evenings. As there is no light pollution at the windmill the night sky is incredible. We saw shooting stars every night. At the windmill there was plenty of information on where to go and what to do. The kitchen was well equipped and we ate here a lot. Just don't leave any food lying about or you will be invaded by ants !!! The windmill inside was very cool, no need for air conditioning, and at night the wind really picked up and howled through the bathroom, all adding to the character of the place. We loved Moyno de sol, it was quirky, relaxing, beautiful and very reasonably priced. I cannot recommend it highly enough.

“A picturesque hideaway with stunning views of the Algarve”
Reviewed 11 November 2013 for a stay in October 2013

We were looking for something a little different to the high-rise hotels on the sea-front, and we found it! The mill is set in a beautiful location in the hills above Tavira, with amazing views to the sea. The mill itself has been furnished beautiful, each room has it's own style created using local pieces. It was fitted out with everything we needed. It was a great place to really relax and switch off and we just couldn't get enough of the views and the sunsets.
