The staff were unfailingly polite and friendly during both my dinners here. The food is varied and prepared with a nice light touch. I had a delicious piperade with white fish- the peppers and onions cooked just right to soft but not unctuous. Smoked salmon was as clean and good as it should be anywhere in Scandinavia. Puds were substantial- a rhubarb trifle (no custard only cream my one complaint) and a lovely strawberry ice cream with a super tuile and milk sorbet. I suppose my main issue re not five stars is that in a big glass room it would nice if the windows were thrown open, on a summer evening keeping them closed seems silly. A very popular spot- I would certainly advise booking at weekends etc.

We visited for lunch and dinner in the Brasserie.

Taste and preparation really fantastic and great to eat at a place where taste is not compromised with the sometime very stringent and ascetic approach that some Danish restaurants bias towards.

Creamy, buttery and fresh. If they still have chanterelles then try the toast and good luck trying to lure out where they are hunting them.

A fair wine card.

Great and friendly service who really seemed to enjoy their work.

Our first choice of eating in Skagen in spite of the trendy location.

Food was alright but considering the quite hefty price, and especially when we noticed it was a Michelin restaurant, we realised this was way overrated. Service was also faulty at times and we felt like the couple next to us, wearing expensive saling clothing brands, were given clear priority over us. (We're not crying, but come on!)

Service was very poor and the food was ok. It took a long time for our orders to be taken. Our food arrived without the necessary cutlery and our food was cold by the time it arrived. Also we were served the wrong drinks. Our food was satisfactory.

There's not a lot of competition in Gammel Skagen; but the brasserie has a nice courtyard and short lunchtime menu. It'll probably be crowded mid-season though. Quite pricey for some simple dishes, loaded with nuts.
