Located a 5 minute drive out of Sigulda, it's quite an extensive complex with some interesting exhibits and stunning views from the top of the round turret over the surrounding countryside.
The only downside was that in early spring, about half the exhibits ( and the cafe) were closed which was a shame, but still worth the visit nonetheless.
Couple the visit with some hiking through the woods and a visit to the "caves" made this an excellent half day investment. There is a walking track loop out to Krimulda manor ( now a run down rehabilitation centre and not open. To the public) which takes about 3-4 hours and once the snow and ice have melted in mid spring, this would be one of the better hikes in the area through picture postcard scenery

The castle isn’t extremely impressive but the historical exhibition is insightful. The grounds surrounding the castle are pretty. The site was made more charming perhaps by the blanket of snow covering everything.

Nice nature, nice to walk and look around. Interesting to climb at the top of tower. Exibition is very average.

Caught a train from Riga to Sigulda and then walked to the cable car which took us across the valley. Followed woodland path down multiple wooden steps, along icy paths, past the cave and onwards to the tourist centre. At this point abandoned forest walk and opted for road route.
Admission reasonable at 3 euros per adult / concession 2.15 euros. Enjoyable time spent exploring castle and then adjoining out buildings. Would have been lovely to live on a warmer day.
Caught local bus back to town - bargain at 50 cents each.

Thank Jackie H
