We arrived from the airport on a very wet Saturday afternoon by taxi (about €11).

We went into reception with baggage and paperwork placed on the reception desk and eventually the lady behind the desk asked if we wanted to check-in?

Once checked in we went to our room on the ground floor. The room only had one window which was into a very small adjoining courtyard with a skylight to try to offer the room some natural light. A curtain had been cleverly fixed so no one could see in but allowed some daylight in.

The room (105) was small with a wardrobe which had hangers and a couple of shelves to stack clothes. There was a desk, minibar, tv and a comfy standard sized bed. To access the far side of the bed you either crawled across the bed or squeezed through an 18 inch (45cms) gap between the pillar and the wall.

There is a safe in the wardrobe but when we tried to set it up a message on the screen suggested the battery was flat. When we tried to get it sorted all they offered was to put our valuables in their safe. We carried them.

The bathroom had a good walkin shower, hot and with good pressure with toiletries supplied. The bathroom is compact but has enough room to use the sink and toilet. There is a hair dryer!

Breakfast was served in the basement where the hot food was at best luke warm but normally cold. There is the usual assortment of continental meats and cheeses with breads. There is a tea/coffee machine and watery fruit juices. If you like a good cup of tea in the morning take your own teabags. Cold milk is at the opposite end of the breakfast bar.

Reception had a number of comfortable chairs and a bar which didn't stay open too late.

The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from the station and the bus stop to the airport (number 22) which is a stopper and takes about half an hour.

The big and it is big market is behind the station.

The hotel is well located for all of the old town with bars and restaurants in close proximity. If you go to the waffle bar nearly opposite, the food is good but service is slow.

If you want to do a river and canal trip go to the river and get a boat there. At the bridge between the rail bridge and the suspension bridge is where they moor and was €12 for an hour when we were there.

The hotel is very comfortably placed in max 10-15 min walking distance from anything in Old Riga. The staff was very helpful and friendly, although sometimes very slow.
Large rooms and comfortable beds, floor heating in the bathrooms was a pleasent surprise. Aircon was efficient and silent.
Breakfast was sufficiently diverse with serials, full english, cheeses, cold cuts, toast and fruits and veg. The coffee machine produced surprisingly drinkable coffee.
However, the drawdown was the cleaning: carpets in the room had visible large stains, the floor of the room was not vacuumed even once over 3 days. We never got replenished the shampoo and shower gel tubes, they did not remove the used cups and glasses from the room either.
So overall ok, but not something to return to, especially considering there are many other options.

Stayed here for a few days and this is a nice hotel.

Breakfast is ok and there is a nice bar on the entrance level.

The room was clean with a nice minibar. Bathroom and towels was also at a nice standard.

Location of hotel is very central in old town with close to many bars and restaurant.

The good bits:

Great location, across the road from the Opera House, 200m from St Peters, all of Vecriga available in 10-15 minutes stroll, public transport immediately accessible, the hotel structure is interesting. In many ways, these are the most important things.

The bad bits:

Breakfast is poor if you like cooked not to be cold (I'm not talking lukewarm), dining facilities too small for the hotel and staff seriously overrun, toiletries and towels in room often not replenished, bath towels small, shower not thermostatic, TV in English either news channels or Nickelodeon.

A hotel sitting on it's location laurels.

Overall this was not a good experience

Hotel is a 10 minute walk from bus station which is fine. On arrival I was given a room that was already occupied! Changed room and this one had a problem with the electrics so no air con and phone wouldn't charge - really annoying. They did attend to it fairly quickly though saying it was an 'ongoing problem'. The aircon never worked though.

The room is very clean and spacious, the shower is good but the wifi is TERRIBLE. Again really frustrating.

Breakfast was fine and the location of the hotel is good.

I put my Do Not Disturb sign on my room as left some expensive valuables there whilst I went out. I came back and housekeeping had been into the room. If anything had gone missing then I guarantee the hotel wouldn't have covered the costs

I don't come away to be p*ssed off and that's how I felt. Paying nearly 100 euros a night you would expect much more. This is not a 4 star hotel. It's a 3 star.

Wouldn't stay again.
