The hotel has a fairly central location not far from the old town and would be a good hotel for business travel if the service weren’t so poor. I have stayed here on two occasions for business but the hotel has quite a few drawbacks that make it far from ideal for business travel. Both times the queues for check in have been very long since the hotel receives a lot of groups traveling by bus which results in the lobby/reception being filled with people and luggage (both times check-in has taken + 10 minutes). Further, the elevators cant cope with the amount of people coming and going in the mornings and evenings and you can easily be waiting 5 minutes for an elevator (I waited 13 minutes one morning just to get into an elevator which is not a perfect start of a day…). Further, service in general is at best indifferent (to get a smile is very rare) but usually just bad (complaining that I had to wait for 13 minutes for an elevator and at least expecting an apology or an explanation, the guy at front desk just said “What can we do!” and then to top things off the guy shakes his head and says something insulting about me to his colleague as I leave….). One time the front desk gave the key card to my room to one of my colleagues that arrived later and came into my room in the middle of the night…). To mention another thing, the showers constantly changes from hot to cold. The things above are probably less irritating if you are in Riga on vacation. To mention something positive the rooms are clean and comfortable (I have stayed in the superior and a business class rooms) and the sky bar is nice (but you can of course enjoy this without staying in the hotel).
