I was a little uncertain about this place, when after I had booked a very negative review appeared. The location is excellent, but as stated in the previous review, the address is NOT the one attached to the apartment (that address appears to be KFC), this caused confusion with our taxi driver and to ourselves. The apartment is in a block on the next street which backs onto that address, but Gedimino Pr is closed to traffic on a sunday, so our taxi driver thought he could not take us there.
The apartment is well equipped and spacious. The information in the place seemed to focus almost entirely on the penalties for behaving badly, eg how much you would get charged if the police got called to the apartment. No info about local restaurants or other recommendations. In terms of value for money I would say is was acceptable, but not outstanding.
Short version- hot water didn't work on two occasions, so we were able to shower on our second evening and our last morning-urgh! The advertised safe did not function. The apartment is NOT on Gedimino 1a as advertised-it is accessed on Tilto through a grubby car park/courtyard that smells of drains. Check in is advertised as 2pm or earlier by arrangement but it was 20 to 4 before we could get is as "the previous guest had taken the keys". What, so spare set, really?!!! (Turns out there *was* a spare set but the owner said "but my partner had them". (Yeah, I don't understand that either!) The phone number given to call them when you arrive doesn't work. Fortunately we had booked via booking.com and they were able to help us to make contact. Booking.com felt that we were entitled to a reduced rate due to the debacle o getting in to the apartment. (We had been up since 4am and had been promised access at around 12, but didn't even get in til 2 hours and 40 minutes after the advertised time). The owner refused. It was only when we reported the hot water situation that he offered a measly 5% off. Hot water, above all else, is an essential that one would assume would work and if not, a bigger gesture would be offered.
Finally-the apartment itself (apart for threadbare towels) was really lovely and exactly as is looks on the photos. But Vilnius has lots of options and given the service we received and the hot water situation I most definitely would not recommend it. Knowing the town a little better now, I would stay around the Pilies Street area, which is more charming anyway.
