Although we visited Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia on a ten day tour of the Baltic states, Rinno was definitely our favourite hotel. There's nothing negative to say about this charming establishment in a quiet street yet minutes from the Old Town, train and bus stations. We arrived by car and parked it securely in a courtyard, thanks guys!

Our room was large and clean (with a good value mini bar!), breakfast is excellent with plenty to choose from on the buffet table with includee cooked options including eggs, omelettes and pancakes. Special praise to Zita the waitress who makes sure everyone has what they want to eat and drink in her trim and tidy dining room.

The English-speaking staff generally are excellent. Friendly and helpful, efficient and good to talk with if you'd like an insight into life in Vilnius.

You mustn't miss the jazz bar next door. Very good food and great entertainment. There's a little cafe on the corner if you want to try the famed Lithuanian 'zeppelins'.

Although the snow was beautiful, we're looking forward to returning to the Rinno in summertime.

The Rinno is just outside the Old Town, but little more than 10 - 15 minutes walk from the main sites. It's on a quiet street a minute or so walk away from a supermarket (good for late night snacks) and next to quite a funky little jazz bar which is a good place to kick an evening off.

The hotel itself is charming and unpredictable. There were three of us on holiday, and each of us had a different room. My room - number 19 - was close to reception and more like a suite with a lounge area separating the bedroom (very comfy bed) and the bathroom (good shower). Another room was massive, with a huge whirlpool bath, and another was smaller and less impressive (but still more than adequate). Odd key chains - seemingly made from animal tails (mine broke almost as soon as I got it).

A particular highlight was the breakfast - not a feast but more than enough to get you started for the day. The usual selection of yoghurt, bread, juices and fruits as well as a cooked option - pancakes, omelettes or scrambled eggs with a variety of fillings. Our waitresses were always friendly and flexible and the omelettes were particularly appetising.

Negatives - none really. The TV reception in my room was pretty poor, but the hotel provides free wi-fi which is a blessing. It's close to the bus and rail stations, so good for jaunts to Trakai (worth it) and elsewhere in the country. For a city with such amazing views you won't see anything too spectacular when you look out of your window, except for maybe one of the monumental baroque churches in the distance. When we asked the hotel to book a taxi to pick us up from the airport at 12.10am they charged us 60 litas when I know we could've got a better deal directly from the airport.

Overall though a good deal and a good location.

Room Tip: If you want something specific - eg: whirlpool bath - it's worth asking as they might have one!

On arrival we wondered what kind of a place we had chosen to stay at - it's down a small, dark side street with a tiny entrance. BUT once inside all that changes. The hotel was lovely and clean, breakfast was plentiful and nice, the staff were helpful and polite and all speak perfect English (amongst other languages). There are some interesting paintings on the walls but I am afraid you will just have stay there yourself to find out just how interersting! We're going back in a few weeks time, which speaks volumes for the quality of the place I think.

Room Tip: I wouldn't pay the extra for the superior rooms - the standard ones are just fine.

Stayed at Hotel Rinno 12th - 15th March. Hotel is in a good (though not picturesque) location. The hotel it's self is very nice, and all the staff were very helpful and friendly. I would definately recommend this hotel for an affordable, friendly stay in Vilnius. Our room though a standard was very spacious, and had a big bathroom. The room smelt and looked as though the carpets were very new too.The breakfast is also very good, with a buffet style table, but with hot food such as omelettes, pancakes, scrambled eggs etc cooked to order, by a really helpful lady. The receptionists were also really good,, and stored our cases on the last day as we had a late flight, as well as phoning a taxi (of our choice) for us. Managed to book a taxi via email from England, and despite the horror stories abouth Vilnius taxis, the firm we used were very good, only 13.80 litas from the airport, and only 12.80 on the return trip. (used Ekipazas) Would stay here again if visiting Vilnius.

The location of the hotel is great: walking distance from bus/train station, and close to the old town. Busses go from the street next to the hotel, and there is a big supermarket(Maxima) just around the corner.

We had a room at the 3rd floor, and since it is kinda the attic, the room had a window at the roof, which could be opened and the view was great! The only downside was the bending roof, which made the room smaller and if you are tall you really have to mind your head at that part of the room!

The room had a weird smell, apparently they had just changed the carpets, so it smelled like in a carpet shop! But that is of course only temporary, and the new carpet was nice and clean.

The breakfast was super! You can order omelettes/pancakes, and they have many kinds of local foods in the breakfast buffet. great ecological yoghurt!

Room Tip: the ones at the 3rd floor have the best view.
