Spent several days in May at this boutique hotel and was enamored with its central location, just steps from Napoleon's 'favorite' church St. Annes, locally Sv. Onos. the accommodations were excellent, aside from the smallish shower enclosure, which I blame on my western girt...The rooms are indeed fashioned by famous authors names and are pleasant and well kept, toilets are modern.
Competent helpful staff who spoke, and understood, several languages of both eastern and western patrons made one feel as a participant in a UN conclave. Discussing in the commonly understood language of English, various topics on the pleasant terrace overlooking the mostly quiet street. On certain Sundays, musicians flood the streets in the olde village with a cacophony of sounds, from a delightfully mesmerizing solo violin concerto by an equally mesmerizing young lady student of the Vilnius university, to reggae....The hotel also utilizes the courtyard of this 1800's Manor Home as a parking area for residents cars, which in olde village, is at a premium.
Food ? Oh My.. breakfast is included and was made to order, the oatmeal was the best I have ever tasted, maybe because it was 'un-processed'...try the freshly squeezed APPLE juice, a first in my traveling breakfast experience. The service provided by the attentive and very attractive service personnel was a pleasure to experience. As you are in the center of old village just steps away from Pilies Street and it's shopping, entertainment and restaurants, a car is not a necessity in this truly walkable city.

Room Tip: third floor serviced by Lift offers better views.

This is a wonderful hotel in a wonderful city. Vilnius is great. I loved it. It has the complexity and size of Tallinn and the people are just as warm and friendly. I fell in love with the place. Staying at the Shakespeare added a lot to that. This is a great hotel. Interesting rooms and reading spaces filled with books. My single room was beautiful and comfortable and overlooked a courtyard that one day was filled with teenagers singing and dancing. So nice. The staff made me feel welcome immediately. The Lithuanian people are a warm and friendly bunch. Cannot recommend this hotel and its delicious restaurant enough.

We arrived here on Friday afternoon for two nights and learnt that our booking was lost. Luckily we were nicely rearranged to 5 star Ramada suite with the same price for the first night. When we came back here for the second night the hotel offered us full dinner at their cozy restaurant! We had such wonderful service and delicious dinner! It's of course a very bad mistake to miss someone's booking but the service we got to recover could not have been better!
Hemingway room was pretty nicely furbished and cozy. Some noise from the street though.
The breakfast next morning at the beautiful terrace was disappointing. Service there was from the other extreme, unfriendly and unattentive. I ordered fruit yoghurt and noted that it was out of the date. The explanation for that was that it was the last one they had - no apologies offered. Caviaar with blinis tasted old and couldn't eat it.
Still we had one exciting story ahead, though it was not the hotel's fault. The reception ordered us a taxi to catch the minibus to Kaunas airport. Normally the taxi comes there in some minutes but now it took 20min. Then we were in real hurry and the receptionist asked the driver to speed up. He indeed did... but we found ourselves in the wrong place. The minibus leaves from Panorama... HOTEL NOT SHOPPING CENTER. Some more speeding and driving against red lights. Surprisingly we caught the minibus at the last minute - it luckily didn't leave exactly in time!

We've stayed at the Shakespeare twice on our visits to Vilnius. Overall its difficult to fault this establishment. The staff exhibit an excellent level of customer service and speak English fluently.

The rooms exude 'old style' charm as does the hotel in general, with beautiful seating areas & excellent a la carte breakfasts.

We recently spent two days at the Shakespeare Hotel as part of our classic car club's Baltic Rally. The hotel is ideal for car clubs having a fairly large open car park in the rear courtyard. It is in the centre of the old town where parking is at a premium. The hotel is very comfortable and the English speaking staff are all excellent. Breakfast is not a buffet but is prepared for each guest individually. The breakfast room however is a little small if the hotel is full - but as we had our breakfast a little later than business guests this worked well. I would not hesitate to recommend this hotel to other car clubs.
