Hotel with a long history in a perfect location for time travellers

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 17 Jul 2021
The location of the hotel is perfect: you will find yourself on the promenade, from where all the sights of Pécs are easily accessible. The staff are friendly and helpful; when we wanted to go up to the otherwise closed roof terrace to look around, they opened it immediately.

It's strange that the room has a total of two sockets at floor level, in not very convenient places. They are more for vacuuming than for charging mobile phones. However, the staff said that the hotel will be renovated next year, so I guess they will fix this problem.

The hotel is somewhat overrated, it looks beautiful from the outside and it is at an excellent location but pretty much that is all on the positive side. The rooms are old, the tap was dripping and the wellness did not work, although it should have been open from 10 am to 6 pm, no one was there. When I called reception it took them over half an hour to reach the person running the wellness and the answer was that "unfortunately today we are not open". I was on a business trip and booked the hotel as it has wellness facilities, if I had known it that it did not work, I would not have booked a room here...

Room tip: there is a construction next to the hotel right now

Dear Guest, thank you for your review and for choosing our hotel.

We are sorry to hear that you were not fully satisfied with our service. According to our plans, the renovation of the hotel will start next year, during which, among other things, larger and more modern rooms will be created.

We apologize for the inconveniences because of the operation of the wellness area. The wellness is operated by an external company, so we will investigate the case and will take the necessary steps, as this is unacceptable.

I hope we will still have the opportunity to welcome you in a comfortable, renovated room in the future, despite the inconveniences, so please contact us before your next stay, so we can compensate you somehow.

We have stayed here several times over the years and keep coming back. The rooms are small and beds hard but the history and setting are great. The 2 things that bring us back are the breakfast/dining room and location. If you want to experience the Pecs old city, this is the place to stay.
I am excited to see what they are doing next door. They are redoing a building to create a boutique hotel with more modern rooms. Maybe for our next stay.

I'm very happy I chose this hotel for our 2 night stay in Pecs.
Its located at a stone throw from the main square among very lively streets full of restaurants and shops.
Super friendly and welcoming staff, excellent breakfast, super comfy bed, quiet room, car park at the back street (access from the hotel lobby)... and above all the gorgeous art nouveau style of the building. Awesome. I can't recommend enough this place.

All public spaces (Restaurant/Breakfast Room, Lobby, Ballroom) are a scene well worth a stay. Superior Room on 3rd floor was functionally furnished, and very clean. Very friendly staff all around. Good breakfast buffet.
