This is my third visit to the thermal lake Heviz. The environment is very peaceful. The healing waters help those with diseases of locomotor system and arthritis. Other benefits include positive effect on skin and the nervous system. A great place to rejuvenate.

We stayed in Heviz for 3 days, the lake is the major attraction. We went once, paid for 3 hours which was 2,800 forints (about £9 I think). You can also pay for 4 hours or the whole day. 3 hours was probably a bit short, could easily have stayed another hour.
The facility is really good, feels like a big Leisure centre when you first walk in but once you get into the lake it is very peaceful with water lilies floating around and the sound of people chattering in about ten different languages! You can find a sun lounger to base yourself at, there are lockers and changing rooms and cafe's. You can swim between the outside part of the lake and the indoor part. The whole lake is warm but the indoor part is directly above the spring so is really warm.
We had an underwater massage in the indoor part - you queue up and then there are 6 jets, each time a bell rings everyone moves up one space so you get 6 goes and the jets start at your feet and move up by the sixth one to your shoulders. Worth the queue!
You forget it is a natural lake when inside although I was reminded when a fish swam past me!!
Buy or rent a float, it makes the whole experience much more relaxing. The lake is very deep and there are plenty of things to hold on to but with a float you don't have to bother treading water all the time. I rented one for 1,600 forints but you get the 1000 back when you return the float.

The temperature of the water is about 34 degrees centigrate. Elderlly visitors like floating with plastic swim rings. The water is beneficial for patients having joint, spine and inflammatory diseases. There are buildings in the middle of the lake with sunbathing opportunities. The whole city is full of flowers, one can find white and lilac water lilies in the lake. A bit pricy but pensioners can buy reduced tickets.
