Description: A little Greece on the riverbank of the Danube... Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993 and has since delighted the dwellers of our city with delicacies of Greek cuisine and delicious wine of its vineyards. The air is filled with the fragrance of char-grilled meats and fishes, fresh-cut vegetables and crispy-baked home style bread. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, diners chit-chat casually around the tables, which blends pleasantly into the melodies of Greek music playing in the background. It is good to be in this restaurant. The pampering feeling of authentic entertainment accompanies the guests from the moment they enter up until they leave. We hope you visit us soon so that we may entertain you for a few hours here in little Greece of Budapest!

My boyfriend and I have just got back from having the most amazing Greek food here we’ve ever had. We started our meal with the strudel with spinach and feta, and the calamari - both were excellent, the calamari being cooked perfectly. For mains, my boyfriend had the prawn saganaki - which he throughly enjoyed. I chose the chicken souvlaki and I asked to swap the sauce for tzatiki and potatoes for pitta bread - I know I was being fussy but they had no problem sorting this for me. The service was also excellent and staff were all very friendly. Overall we had a great meal and would definitely return if we were here for longer!

My wife wanted to go to a river front restaurant for our first night in Budapest. I looked on Google Maps then checked reviews on Trip Advisor. On balance, Taverna Dionysus felt like a good choice.
We caught a tram to Sazbagsag Hid (Liberty Bridge), enjoyed the view and atmosphere of the bridge, then walked the river front looking at maybe 6 restaurants on the way. We ended up at Dionysus, it was busy but we asked for a table outside, the waiter gave us a table inside but said he would move us outside if possible. Before we could order a drink, the manager asked if we would still like to move outside and quickly arranged it. It’s great when the staff communicate and make things happen!
We ordered calamari for starter, which was listed as fried, but the waiter offered that they could do grilled too; we chose grilled and it was fabulously cooked - tender and delicious.
We shared Moussaka and grilled pork steaks with vegetables for main. The Moussaka was great and pork was good. The portion sizes were huge, so one piece of baklava for dessert was more than enough - we only had it because we couldn’t resist - we were to full to properly enjoy.
The river view was nice but not spectacular, that didn’t matter because everything else was so good. Even the WCs were great with funky glass sliding doors, quality hand washes and very clean!
This wasn’t cheap compared to what you can eat for in Budapest, but it was worth it.
Would definitely recommend.

Guys, I don't write many reviews here, but this place truly deserves it. The food was magnificent, the service was great and the tavern ... well you really have to see it for yourselves.

The prices are a bit spicy but all in all it is worth it.

Great stuff, clearly a place to go to when in Budapest.

As soon as you get into the restaurant you feel the environment of Santorini. The local has a really beautiful decoration like the houses of the island with Greek music playing all the time. The food was surprising as well - a lot of variety and the dishes we ordered had the same taste as the food we got in Greece.

We paid around 60€ between the two of us ordering drinks, two starters and two main dishes. It may sound a bit expensive but the quality of the food and the service were exceptional.

We will go back for sure.

As you pass the doors of this restaurant you immediately feel like in Greece. :) The location is perfect, the interior design is greek, but not too “overdressed”, the staff is polite, very friendly and professional. You feel welcome and comfortable. The atmosphere is - even when full - relaxing. The food is delicious and very nicely arranged. The plates for 2 (starter and main course) are more than enough and would be totally okay even for 3 persons. The prices for drinks and food are ok.
