“very good hotel”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 May 2012

I have visited the hotel twice. At last visit we received free upgrade for the room so we stay on the 5th floor from where you have a beautiful panoroma over the Danube. Very interesting design, no problems in the rest, the wifi running very good. Small thing to object, the window wasn't clean enough ,it's a pitty for the gorgeous panorama.

Room Tip: take the upper levels if possible

Tucked away on the river front directly beneath the castle, and just by the Chain Bridge, this was an ideal spot for sightseeing in Budapest. The staff were really helpful, and even allocated us a river view when we emailed them after booking to ask. The hotel was immaculate, with a good breakfast selection included.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor overlooking the river - great view of The Danube and Chain Bridge!

Just back from 4 days in Budapest with a friend and we were extremely fortunate to have booked this hotel. We were given a deluxe twin on the 4th floor with a perfect view of the river Danube and the buildings on the Pest side of the river. We were about 50 yards from the chain bridge which is one of Budapest's landmarks and only a short trip on the funicular up to the Castle District. All the rooms have a theme and ours was the Fuschia room based on a pink chair. The hotel is very modern with glass lifts and glass block floors and neon panels at the floor to ceiling windows which light up in the evening. You can see them as you are crossing the bridge at night as most of the restaurants and sights are on the Pest side. The breakfast room had an orange juicer and state of the art coffee machine and there was a really good choice of buffet breakfast. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful and spoke perfect English. There is a tram stop opposite and the trams are a really efficient way of getting about especially if you buy a 72 hour ticket. A great city and a lovely hotel.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the river on a higher floor

The Lanchid is conveniently located at the bottom of the Buda castle and only a few minutes (you have to cross the Danube on the Lanchíd bridge) from the old town (Pest). Our reservation worked well despite being very short notice, we always got quick email responses. The room was on the fourth floor had a nice view of the Buda castle plus was very quiet and well maintained. For us, on the downside, the beds were way too hard so we didn't sleep very well. The sleep quality rating is only low because of this, if you like hard beds, you'll have no trouble sleeping well at the Lanchíd.

As others have written, staff was always friendly and helpful, but the Restaurant and Bar underdelivers. We had not-so-good cocktails and Caesar Salad which came with a clear vinaigrette and without any hint of Parmesan cheese, but instead with dry chicken. We recommend eating out, there is a lovely little café and a great restaurant (that also offers different very good breakfast options, it's called Baldaszti's Kitchen) down the road.

This hotel is located right next to the River Danube, near the Chain Bridge, and in front of Buda Castle - what more could you wish for? We managed to get the room at a very reasonable rate, on special through Booking.com - the normal rates are perhaps a little high. The rooms were clean, roomy, and beds comfortable. It is only a 10 min walk across the Chain bridge to the Pest side of the river. WiFi access was acceptable, but breakfast was on the expensive side, so I would advise finding one of the many eating places on the Pest side of the river. Could be a problem if you have a car, as parking seemed very limited, although plentiful short term parking is available in front of the Hotel.
