Given the rather mixed reviews of this hotel, I was a little apprehensive of staying there, especially as I was in charge of booking for several good friends. I need not have worried however as the hotel was very much up to standard. This is a mid priced hotel for Budapest and given that it lived up to expectations. Firstly, do not stay at this hotel if you don't manage to get a view of the Danube. It is by far the biggest attraction. Even the Four Seasons across the square does not have as good a view of the river and the chain bridge. The Intercontinental next door does but at a much more expensive price tag. The rooms are exactly what you would expect, bright and clean in that standard chain way, with the bed being a big plus (very comfortable). Outside the hotel looks like a soviet era mistake but inside the decor is surprisingly refreshing. Breakfast is pricy but very good. My only complaint, which seems to be more of a problem with Budapest as a whole rather than this hotel in particular is the rather surly attitude of the staff. Service here is only sometimes with a smile and exceeding expectations is not something written into the Hungarian vocabularly just yet. Perhaps in a few years time........

My sister and I spent an extra two days at this hotel ( 4 nights in total) due to 'volcanic ash'. Staff were superb, highly efficient but always friendly and welcoming. They literally took care of us. We were on Club level, which I would highlly recommend. Not only was the service excellent, views breathtaking but food was delciious, for both breakfast and evening 'Happy Hour'. Internet access also free on this level. Paris- Budapest restaurant also superb. A wonderful hotel to be marooned in!! Thank you all.

Recently spent 3 nights here on a mini-break. Fantastic hotel - booked at a great rate through 1bigEurope and was given an upgrade to a suite which was tremendous value for the price that we paid.
Very friendly and helpful staff, Great location also, glad that we did not prebook a local travel card which we considered as most places are walkable from the hotel. On the odd occasion that we went furthur afield, single trip tickets on the metro are cheap enough.
The standard of the room was excellent - very spacious with two large plasma tvs and an excellent bathroom with separate walk in shower and a bathtub also - bed was also very comfortable - one of the best rooms that we have had in Europe.
The buffet breakfast was absolutely stunning. An amazing selection of options - everything that you could possibly want was here - even including chilled champagne!!!
We also used the swimming pool/sauna a couple of times also which was an added bonus
If we revisit Budapest we would certainly return to this hotel
