“Decent but nothing special”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 31 July 2012

Picked this hotel for its location next to Deli Train Station as we were based mostly in southern Hungary. We had two suites which had a double bed and a small living area with an extra bed. For a hundred euros the room was fine. Breakfast was an extra twelve euros and the wifi was poor even in the restaurant. Functional with efficient staff tho hardly memorable.

I think the best you can say is the location of the hotel because of transportation available. Metro line 2 about 200m. We buy the tree day group ticket for 5 persons all transportations included for about 13euros/day. The hotel has good service and is easy to find. Rooms walls and carpets a little old but clean. Bathroom very clean with the standard. In the back of the hotel is a super market you can find anything and near the train station and metro are shops and cafes.
I believe that deserve to stay there when the price is convenient also.

We stayed 2 nights at this hotel in early July 2012. Although we knew the hotel was not close to downtown, we could not know the poor conditions of the rooms or the service. The hotel building from the outside or the public areas of the interior seemed to be fine. During the 2 days at the hotel I would not take my shoes in the room due to the filthy carpet.
We had breakfast at the hotel and found a good variety of choices. One day we had dinner and the food was pretty disappointing.
Outside the hotel there isn’t much to see as you are away from the centre of town and there are no restaurants or shopping places to go. On our last day the room maid was knocking on the room every 10 minutes from 8 AM to the time we left at 10 AM demanding we left so she could do the room. I would not recommend this hotel even for a night.

We stayed at the Mercure Buda for 2 nights in Sep 2011 as part of a Cosmos Tour. I really liked this hotel, it may not be right in the city centre but you could easily walk there.

Location
As the name states this hotel is in the "buda" side of the city. The city centre is a 20-30 minute walk away, you will need to cross the bridge to get over the river. There are a few shops and a supermarket near the hotel, as well as a park across the road. The metro is behind the hotel which is very convenient.

Rooms
The rooms were a little dated, but still clean & comfortable. Bathroom was clean with a shower over the bath. There was no noise at night so you shouldnt have any trouble sleeping.

Hotel Features
Large lobby area with a great bar that is open late for drinks. We spent quite a bit of time in the bar before and after dinner, was a great place to sit around with friends. There are a few souvenir shops in the lobby area as well which have plenty to choose from for gifts. Free wifi as well.

Food
We ate breakfast twice here and both times it was great, plenty to choose from and all the food was fresh and tasty. We also had a buffet dinner one night and that was also very good. There were lots of little desserts to try. If you dont want to venture out at night you could eat here but there are so many other options in the city centre.

Staff
The staff were always friendly and helpful with directions/maps. I found that most people in Budapest are friendly anyway. Most spoke English.

Overall i would stay at this hotel again, its a large hotel with great service and a friendly atmosphere. Not right in the city centre but if you dont might walking/public transport then this hotel would suit you.

Room Tip: If yo want a nice view ask for a room with a view over the park/front of the hotel.

We had a great stay here, but, despite a clean comfortable room, and a nice mattress, the bedding was cheap, the duvets were sweaty and didn't breathe, so I slept quite badly the whoe time. Just having a second sheet would have helped. Also the AC didn't really seem to work, I turned it down to zero and it wasn't any colder than when it was on 20 ! That's my main gripe, the service, cleanliness and size and quality of the rooms were all excellent, just don't understand why they have to get mean with the bedding !

Room Tip: Ask for non smoking, as they are still quite backward in Hungary and allow some smoking rooms, so th...
