“Location, service, and breakfast buffet”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2012 via mobile

First and foremost, you cannot beat the location. On my first night I strolled down the street and sat at an outdoor cafe, people watched and had a great Hungarian meal. It wasn't until the next morning I realized I had eaten steps from St Stephens Basilica in the middle of central Budapest. From the hotel, you are within 30 casual walking minutes of everything that matters in Budapest. Whether you're looking to visit Castle Hill, the baths, stroll ancient streets, get a quick drink, shop, or just people watch you can do it from Base Kempinski.

Also, service is fantastic. The entire team looks after you, greets you by name and sees to your every need. They will even stamp and mail postcards for you.

Get the breakfast buffet in your package. It was a great start to every morning and was not a shabby breakfast. Tons of fruit, charcuterie, English breakfast stuff with Anerican bacon, and made to order omelettes.

The hotel is definitely more for business travelers, older couples and professionals used to higher levels of service in a more formal environment. I'm sure there are trendier hotels with better bars and lounge areas. This one didn't really have a bar as much as a lobby with lots of seats where you could order drinks.

I would recommend this spot for sure.

Having experienced the luxury of one of the Kempinski Hotels in Berlin last year and soon to return there too. We are staying in this fantastic hotel, right in the centre of Pest on a bed and breakfast basis. We were upgraded to a more superior room, free of charge, on arrival and our room is quiet, luxurious and spacious. Staff are attentive but go about their duties without interfering, almost invisibly. Breakfasts are very good, especially the selection of breads and fresh fruits. Unlike its sister hotels in Berlin, loose tea leaf brews are not on offer, the proverbial tea bag appears not to be so good but this a subjective preference. Again, the staff are on hand to make certain one does not wont for anything. Great experience from an excellent chain of superb hotels. Well done!

We stayed there only for one night due to the fact that Le Meridien was overbooked and they mooved us there. We didn't had breakfast there so we can't say anything about Kempinski's breakfast. The room was luxurious and the reception was service friendly and polite. In the future if I want a 5 star hotel in Budapest I would prefer this hotel than Le meridien because of many reasons( read my le meridien review if anyone want to know the details).
