“Best hotel location in Budapest”
Reviewed 24 June 2012

We stayed for a long weekend in May 2012. My husband had previously stayed here on business, and thought I would like the hotel as much as he had. He was right! As other reviewers have noted, the location is first rate and the views across the Danube are stunning, particularly of the Parliament building. Be sure to ask for a room with a Danube view - the extra cost is worth it. The room was fine, though the bathroom was a little small, with a shower in the bath rather than a separate cubicle. We had booked and paid for an Executive room, but when we arrived nothing suitable was available, so we were given a standard room on the next floor up. We still had access to the Executive lounge, where we had excellent service from the staff. We had breakfast in the restaurant rather than in the Executive lounge and the quality and choice was very good. The hotel is located in the centre of the historic district of Buda, from where there is also a frequent bus service to Pest.

Room Tip: Pay for Danube view

We stayed here for 3 nights and loved this hotel. The location is amazing, I would recommend to pay the 30 euroes extra for a room with a view of the river.

The hotel itself is really nice, with good restaurant and the staff are very friendly and helpful.

There is a bus that runs from right outside the hotel and goes down the hill and right into the pest side of town. It costs about 1 euro and takes about 10 minutes.

Overall I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone that is doing a short stay in Budapest and wants a really nice location.

Budapest, June 2012 reviews

We spent a delightful week at the Budapest Castle Hilton. We stayed on the executive lounge floor and paid for the Danube River view. There was something intoxicating seeing the Danube at night and the Parliament Building illuminated by soft lighting. We kept our curtains open at night just to enjoy this sight. This is a great Hilton. The lounge staff were attentive with special thanks to evening server Tibor who remembered our drink orders and genuinely seemed happy to see us. We did have a problem with the A/C not working one night and with the window opening perhaps no more than one inch, it was a sleepless night. It was fixed by the next night. Also, there was water seepage around the bottom of the shower door. Would we return---you bet ! TIPS: there is an ATM in the building and also one located outside in the back of the hotel. The outside ATM is located between an ice cream shop and a delicious chocolate shop which also sells simple and quick grilled cheese sandwiches. Bus---the #16 bus (not the #16A which just goes back and forth the castle hill area) takes you across the Chain Bridge. Tickets: the front lobby desk sells individual tickets and we suggest you purchase 10 at a time. We rode buses, trams, and metro. Make sure you validate your ticket. One couple told us they were stopped by transportation authorities who wanted to see both ticket and photo ID. Taxis…..taxi drivers have a bad reputation in Budapest. Nonetheless, we used them several times. Here is the tip---walk to a major hotel and ask the doorman to hail you a taxi (tip the doorman). We did this with no problems and no scams. Final tip----Budapest is a walking city, so wear comfortable shoes and take breaks.

I stayed at this hotel last October and vowed then to bring my husband to experience this wonderful hotel. Having spent 2 nights 'pest' side he was totally amazed by the views from this hotel on the 'Buda' side of the Danube. Although a Hilton hotel it is a part of the Danubius collection well know in Eastern Europe. Our room was large with panoramic views over the Danube, Parliament and the Fisherman's bastion. Bed was large and very comfortable. Although the decor could be considered slightly dated, all areas are extremely well maintained and clean. Staff attentive and thoughtful and always eager to please. Everything about this hotel is faultless. Hotel restaurant is first class. Would recommend for a romantic break or city break. Don't be put off to travel on public transport this side of the river - the no. 18 or 18A bus will take you downhill to a major transport hub where it is easy to get around. Buy a Budapest card which covers all public transport well worth the money..... when can I go back!

Room Tip: Stay on the Executive Floor - the extra price gives you the best views over the city and access to a...

Stayed here following a Viking River Cruise. The BEST hotel we have ever stayed in. Had a 4th floor room with the greatest view ever. No noise at night, wonderful breakfast, and a most perfect location. You can not stay at a better hotel in Budapest.

Room Tip: Make sure you are on at least the 4th floor, facing the river
