“Great location and views, but no free internet connection”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 April 2012

The location was one of their positive points. A couple of minutes walk and you'll get to the chain bridge, the starting point of Hop on/off, or the dock of cruises right across the hotel. Their river view was great, so beautiful at night just right from the window of your room.
They served a nice breakfast with a various kind of meals. We also had a very nice dinner at the restaurant downstairs, The Peppers. They trully served you a best you can get meals. And we do agree that (at least) the goulash was the best in town.
The room was clean and the bed was really comfortable, gave us a nice rest after the busy days.
Unfortunatelly, for such a big and famous hotel, they really have a disappointing side. No free wifi from the room (not even in the lobby) was really a drawback. Luckily, they still give you a free print for your boarding pass when you need it.
And it would be much better if the staff can give just a little smile, one thing that we didn't see during our stay. They were helpful but definitely lack of smile.

While this property can be described as a business hotel with its share of conference attendees and other business people from around the globe, it is also a wonderful hotel for vacationeers. The central location with incredible views of the Danube and the castle on the Buda side of the river, the efficient and helpful staff , the great spread on the concierge level provide a nice backdrop for any stay. The rooms are spacious and have been updated in recent years, it looked like. Everything is walking distance; The Gellert Spa (fantastic, clean, but be ready for some nudity), the grand market ( where your senses will be overtaken by incredible selection of sausages, sweets, fruits, where you can have cheap and good lunch)Vaci utca( the main elegant shopping street), Zserbo( the famous pastry coffee shop), the largest Synagog in Europe, the Parlament and many more significant sites.

Room Tip: Concierge level .

The headline says it: Being a very regular traveller I have tried and seen a lot. This hotel is near perfect. On the bank of the Danube river (which is not blue as one would suspect - LOL) with a view to the castles and churches and colourful houses on the Buda side, makes you say like a real estate agent: "position, position, position". Unfortunately our room was in the southern end, where a strange appendix to the structure is blinding your view to half of the above attractions. So do yourself a great favour: Get a room in the northern end or on the appendix west or north facing.
Location is a few steps away from the great pedestrian street Vaci, so you can shop till you drop and go home for a nap - or a drink on the terrasse facing the Danube.
We'll stay there on subsequent visits to Budapest - for sure!

Room Tip: For the fantastic view to the castle district in Buda choose the Northern wing or north/west facing...

stayed 4 nigths at this hotel.

Location:
The location can't be better - 5 mins from the metro station (Deak ter) which is an interchange station for all three metro lines (Red, Blue and Orange). There are two 24-hour supermarkets outside the hotel, but there is a bigger one (called Match) near the Deak Ter station. The hotel is along the riverside, right oppostive Pier Station No. 7 (where you take the Legend crusie. Most cruises depart from Pier No. 7-10 depending on which company you go for). We pre-arranged a cab from the airport, and it took us 45 mins to arrive at the hotel. There is also an open market, and a shopping street near to the hotel. It's very quiet so there is no noise problem.

Room:
the room is clean and tidy, the bathroom is also very well maintained - up to 4.5 star standard. Flat screen TV. The mattress is too soft for our liking. We are very lucky to have a room facing the Castle and the Gallery (i.e. the right side of the hotel as some people said on TA) and it's a pure joy sitting by the window waiting for the sunset. We took lots of photos by night. Damn beautiful.

Breakfast:
this is probably a weaker point. There are the usual hot beverages (sausages, eggs, potatoes) and the cold food (e.g. ham etc), and the bread (e.g. croissants). But I would not say it is rich in varieties at all, and certainly not really a 5-star (did they call themselves 4-star?) hotel's standard. The food is the same everyday we were there.

Wifi access:
As a number of us have mentioned, there is no free wifi access in the room. However, the hotel gives you 1-hour free wifi access if you eat in their restaurant, or buy a drink in the lobby (a cup of tea is around 3 euro). Remember to ask the waiter for the code when you have your breakfast. So we used that hour to check in our returning flight! I do prefer to have instant access to the internet when needed, although in the end it worked out ok as we didn't want to check our emails all day during our holidays.

Room Tip: as some of us have mentioned - the right side of the hotel has a better view. All rooms face the riv...
