“I like this hotel.”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2012

Many people complain about location, but it is pretty good location for travellers by train. We got out at Keleti railway station and it was 15 minutes on foot or we could use bus, which stops directly at the hotel. (Bus stop: Cházár András utca).
Hotel was clean and rooms were spacious. We had free breakfast and using "wellness"&fitness centre. But the pool wasn´t too cleaned. I mean pool sanitation. No smell of chlorine or something like that. And other parts of wellness centre looks poor for me. (Not a sauna - that was perfect). Breakfast was pretty good, but "hot part" wasn´t anything perfect I mean scrambled eggs. Maybe they want you to persuade to order hot meal extra :D
In common stay in this hotel was pretty good, staff was very kind, room was clean, breakfast pretty good (big choice of cold cuisine). And location isn´t problem for me, you can use busses to get to the city centre. Or you can have pretty walk to Városliget park, which is not far.

This is probably on par with a Hilton Garden Inn here in the US. There's a free breakfast in the morning, and it's fine (Hungarian food can be challenging). For the price, there should be wireless in the rooms, though. Almost everywhere you go in Budapest, there's free wifi, which makes the ethernet cable in the room even more odd. The gym facilities are five euros, and there's four machines in there, and a bed-sized swimming pool. They should be free, especially considering Szechenyi is only a 15-minute walk away. Perhaps that's why I never saw anyone in there!

The neighborhood is a bit lonely. It's pretty residential, and the nearest metro is a 10+-minute walk away--a walk I didn't like doing at night. There are plenty of buses to compensate, though.

Stayed here for a weekend, comfortable room, nice bathroom, restaurant good, unfortuanately not very busy. Was situated a bit too far from the main city sights. One real complaint though is the hotel charge guests as well as non-guests to use the pool/gym etc, if you have a 4 star rating because of your facilities, let your guests use them, they are paying 4 star prices after all. I cant rate the pool etc because I declined to pay the 5 euro (why euros? why not huf?) per day to use them.

We were sent to the Lion's Garden hotel from another hotel which had overbooked. The lobby, restaurant and the rooms very fresh and clean - although pretty average.

The breakfast buffet, which at least in our case was included in the room price, was of average quality. The buffet included bread, cold cuts, eggs (extra fee for fried eggs and bacon), fruit, cerial, yoghurt, juice, tee & coffee. It was all there, but somehow the quality of individual food items didn't meet our expectations.

The hotel is a bit far from everything, but there is a bus stop just outside the hotel and busses number 5, 7 and 173 run to the red metro line (M2) and train station in Keleti pályaudvarand and continue from there to the Pest center and e.g Vaci Utca. Bus number 5 takes you all the way to the old town in Buda.

To arrive from airport by public transportation: take bus number 200E to Kőbánya-Kispest and continue with blue metro (M3) to Deák Ferenck Tér. Change to red metro (M2) and ride to Keleti pályaudvarand. Take a bus (numbers 5, 7 or 173 - note: don't use busses 7E or 173E as they don't stop at all bus stops) and get out at the second stop in front of a church. Cross the street and you are at the hotel. The trip takes approximately 50-60 minutes.

We stayed four nights and were very happy with the clean comfortable rooms, good breakfasts, and helpful staff.

We missed wifi in the room, but it was available in the lobby.
