This tiny simply decorated restaurant is well hidden in a rather threadbare little shopping mall well off the beaten tourist track in the city centre. The staff friendly and helpful. Beware of the working hours. The restaurant is only open for lunch and dinner.
We had a preset six course dinner and it was brilliant. We were spared the trouble of reading the menu. Actually, there is none. You get what the chef decided to prepare that day. The chef is prepared to do a few tweaks if you have special quirks.
The six course menu consisted of a simple yet delicious fish soup, followed by sea bass (sprinkled with cardamom) and salmon sashimi served on a bed of veggies and soy sauce foam, the seared sea bass in two different marinades, the filling okonomiyaki (egg omelet with cabage) covered with dancing bonito flakes, a tuna, salmon, sea bass and shrimp nigiri, and finally a light dessert of a lime yoghurt mousse with berries and miso chocolate.
We flushed down the food with a seductive Hitachino nest red rice ale.
I will definitely visit again.
