My wife and I stayed here for a few nights in the end of December. We wanted a small get away and just somewhere to sleep away from the busy spots of town. Akme villa is located around 5/10 minutes away from the old town when taking the tram/taxi. It is on a side road in a slightly sketchy looking area, we did arrive at night, with a taxi driver claiming to be lost whilst running up the meter, but that’s another story.

At check in we were warmly welcomed, our reservation and details all there with no issues. We were given information about the area, shops and getting into town.
The room was spacious with a modern bathroom, the beds were two singles put together, no issues and to be expected to be honest. The room had basic amenities, tea and coffee facilities, TV, seats and table. Bathroom as stated was a bit more modern that the room itself, clean and nicely finished. The only downside with the room was that the seal on one of the windows was worn and that let quite a bit of the cold in/heat out. Apart from that and maybe some softer towels needed, the room was great value for what we paid.

It was nice to see that during our stay the rooms were made up every day. Akme villa is a small run “hotel”, this gives a nice and welcoming feel, friendly staff who can answer questions knowledgably and honestly about the area and things to do.

Being from the UK, but now living in Norway, I was slightly taken aback when I asked for a local shop and was presented with Tesco. It is a brisk 15/20 minute walk away, very nice to do during the day, can be a bit daunting at night when all dark. It was great to have a known branded shop to go to for supplies, all the things Tesco normally stock and more.

There is a local tram stop again 5 minutes away, very, very cheap to get a single ticket and travel into the old town, I paid cash at the automated ticked machine for the first few times, then resorted to using contactless, within 20 seconds a ticket bought and paid for, very simple to use and get around. Trams are modern and mostly on time from our experience. If I recall correctly there might have been 3 different services you can take from the local stop into the old town and then further afield. Journey time around 10 minutes at most.

We ate in the restaurant at Akme villa one evening when we were a little tired; the food was basic, but beer and wine cheap, so it all balances out.

Overall we really enjoyed our time in Gdansk and we felt welcomed whilst staying here and would have no issues about staying again if we returned. It is not 5* luxury and it doesn’t claim to be either, I think it is good value for the money that it is charging, you get a lot more value with the service they provide and we had no major issues throughout. Great place to have a base to go out and explore Gdansk.

Nice place for a short stay , close to old town ( 10 minutes by tram)
Very clean room with modern bathroom , good breakfast.
Very good ratio price/value , very nice staff, human price for a beer ( 6PLN)
Cold room ( heating was not on in the end of September) ,
poor sound isolation - you will hear every detail from the stairways/hall

The villa is located 2km form the center of the city.
The rooms doesn't have phones, doesn't have air conditioner! If you're staying on the first floor you can ear all the noises form the kitchen and reception.
In the room I got a very dirty cup.
Very poor room and facilities
I don't recommend this place at all!
After one night I moved to a different hotel!

A little bit hard to find due to construction. The location is just 8km from Old Town and right on a Trolly Stop. This is a very clean place with a friendly and helpful staff. They serve dinner as well as breakfast. Comfortable room and free parking. Gdansk is a great place to visit. Lovely old town and excellent Freedom Museum.
