Pavel brought this barracks to life. Unlike other camps this one remains the same as it did during the war. The family effects make this very real. You can see the theater as well as other common areas.

In the Magdeburska Kasarna is also a small theater were I danced on the stage. I was 8 years old living in the ghetto at the children home. For me it was something very special to see again the stage celerbrated my 80 years birthday. I can't describe to you what a great moment it was, singing and dancing on the stage again

Part of the memorial dedicated to the culture, music and literary creation in the ghetto. Don't miss small room with movies in the courtyard.

All of my lectures were held here whilst taking part in a conference for the Holocaust Education Trust. It is an amazing building with a devastating history, as the whole of Terezin has but this building held something more devastating which was the false hope of survial for many of its prisoners - the Brundibar. On our last evening, in the attic that once hosted the original Brundibar, we had a recreation with one of the original cast members. This is an experience I will never forget and the whole audience was brought to tears when this incredible lady got up and sang about how a mother was ill and needed milk to survive - devastating. If you get the opportunity to watch The Brundibar, please do, it is absolutely heartbreaking. I couldn't help but reflect on he fact that children of the same age of the performers would have been transported to Auchwitz the day after the Nazis had finished duping the red cross visit. Please please please visit.
