The 1pm classical concert is in a small but beautiful room with a delightful program. We bought the combo pass and enjoyed the art museum with audio guide. I especially enjoyed seeing the Beethoven original scores and the Messiah arrangement by Mozart. The Caneletto paintings are remarkable.
We also lunched on the terrace overlooking the city - there isn’t a better view in the castle! The chicken schnitzel with salad was wonderful.

I read that this is the largest palace on the planet .. and it sure did feel like it as we walked through the palace. The palace is full of history, artifacts and paintings. There are many places you can look out and down at the city and get good pictures. It takes 2-3 hours to go through the palace.

This palace is privately owned by the family - the audio is personally narrated by the grandson of the last Prince Lobkowicz and you feel you are being a private tour of their home and hear their story. Among exhibits are 2 original Canaletto paintings, original Mozart manuscript and swathe of personal items and family portraits which come alive as the family tell you their story. At the end you are treated to a personal message on the only private balcony in the Prague Castle grounds - with the best views and NO tourists we were there with our family enjoying it all by ourselves...

We had a 2 day ticket for the castle complex and only had 2 places left to visit on the second day so in order to make it worth our while heading all the way back up there we decided to check out this museum. I wasn't expecting all that much to be honest, even though it says it's the #1 museum on TripAdvisor! If you have the time I would definitely recommend this. The history that it gives of the family isn't just a boring history of some rich family but ties into the history of the Austro-Hungarian empire, the Hapsburgs and the history of Czechoslovakia and the modern Czech Republic. The family history is incredible and the range of paintings, China, weapons and musical artefacts are totally amazing! The audio guide comes included in the price and its a great commentary. There are numbers in red which are the 'key' parts of the collection so you can do that if you are short of time but we listened to them all and learnt a lot, really good. Then at the end there is the panoramic view which points out key buildings and areas of the city mixed with some history and local legend: I would recommend doing this in your first day in the city so you can get your bearings and decide which bits you want to see. Overall this is a really unique museum. The only thing I wanted to know that I didn't find out was how they recovered all their items when the communists confiscated them!

We were fortunate enough to have a dinner there at the end of a river tour. The history of the palace the families it went through and was taken from then returned to is very interesting. The art work and furniture would be very educational to an era past. They do have diners there for non tour groups I think but would recommend checking it out while in Praque.
