This is a quality 'oasis' of a hotel with a price tag to match. Close to Prague Castle and St Nicholas church, and oddly on the edge of the so-called 'Lesser Town', it is within easy reach of the Charles Bridge and the Old Town by walking and within a hundred meters of the excellent tram system. The rooms are comfortable (we had a mezzanine suite) with high quality beds although the bathroom might have had a shower as well as a bath. The highlight was the breakfast buffet which might just be the best we have experienced. The staff were most helpful and overall this hotel deserves its rating. Our only hesitation is that the price per night is a bit too steep to give a top scoring for value.

Prague is a beautiful city overpacked with throngs of tourists, which can detract from ones enjoyment. The alchemist is a perfect antidote to the overcrowding for many reasons:
The location of the hotel, up a street in the middle of the little quarter should place it in the vortex of chaos, but the nearby US embassy and the 2 armed police across the way deters crowds and traffic and keeps it quiet and relaxing.
The elegance of the building is dramatic, an architectural gem beautifully restored and furnished.
And finally the kindness and warmth of the staff- one is greeted with a cool lemon-infused towel to refresh oneself, always with a genuine smile and “dobre den!”
Our family was made to feel at home here.
Certainly this will always be our hotel in Prague.

We stayed as a family of 4 in December and couldn't have picked a better hotel or location . We had a great sized room and our teenagers had their own room upstairs within our suite. The staff were super, the breakfast excellent and the hotel itself extremely warm which was welcome after coming in from the cold December weather.

I would definitely stay here when we return to Prague.

The quality of the restored building and the furniture everywhere is simply extraordinary. There are many small patios and outside light throughout the building, which adds to the feeling of roominess and well being. The room i had was the Junior Suite 215 (2nd floor), which was comfortable, first class and perfect in everyway. The level of service absolutely top. Made use of the spa, the pool (small but very well done, and pleasant), the gym (small but well done and maintained, and relatively complete), and took an outstanding and quality massage. Nothing to complain about, and much to thank to the staff and the hotel management. Very happy with the stay!!

Room Tip: I chose a junior suite and got number 215, which looked into an inside patio, was excellent, roomy, with outstanding furniture, and quiet

We booked this hotel, because we wanted to spend our anniversary in a romantic place and in a special hotel. And the Alchymist Grand Hotel is a truly special one! Since the arrival we were impressed by the service and we loved the design, decorations of historical furniture, small courtyard with outside seating…We reserved Junior Suite, decorated in red color. I know there was one in blue, too. But my husband and I preferred the red one. We asked for it at the time of reservation and we got it after confirmation. We loved the wine and cheese tasting every day and we also tried the dinner on the outside terrace. The food was amazing. We did not have much time to try the spa, but we only visited sauna and pool when it was rainy. Very nice area in the historical basement. The hotel location is perfect, all sightseeing in walking distance and quiet area.
