The 3 Crowns advertises convenient location and transportation. In reality, the tram is at the top of a long cobblestoned hill; the bus is a short, but steep cobblestone sidewalk away. The tram does make convenient stops, but the bus takes a circuitous route around the city. In winter, or wet weather, both vehicles are require navigating treacherous slopes. Old Town Square and other destinations are expensive 20 minute cab rides from the hotel. The hotel is comprised of two buildings. The lobby, restaurant and bar are in the main building. Here, there is free wireless access in the guest rooms and bar. There is no wireless across the street.Smoking rooms in the main building are on the 4th floor. While I was there, the elevator was broken. Despite my reservation indicating "handicapped," the desk manager said I could use the stairs and they would help me with my luggage. My daughters would be on another floor. We ended up in the "spare" rooms in the opposite building (with a functional elevator.) "Spare" meaning sparsely furnished, dingy, ill-lighted- and no wireless. The restaurant, which needs refurbishing, served oversalted stringy smoked meats on the Farmer's Platter; and tough, grizzley chunks of "beef" in a salty gravy. Forget the stale, dry Bohemian "dumplings," nothing more than dessicated white bread. Breakfast might have been held over from the day before.
While some of the problems might be attributed to my inability to use stairs and imperfect equilibrium, plus the bitter cold and light snow coating the sidewalks, this is not a hotel I can recommend.
