“Perfect Location”
Reviewed 11 April 2012

Maximilian Hotel is a nice, small hotel located near Old Town Prague, but away from all of the noise. The concierge and front desk staff were extremely helpful, patient and attentive in spending large amounts of time recommending restaurants, jazz clubs, black light shows, etc. The entire hotel staff was extremely warm, courteous and welcoming. Our room was bright and adequate in size. The included breakfast buffet was probably our favorite feature. It was good, large, and offered lots of variety, including daily chef specials.

One of the best hotel in Prague both for its quality and location. its a small hotel but almost everything fine. Friendly staff and very cute note greetings about weather every morning breakfast on every table, nice touch ! Hope will come back again . Don't forget to walk around the hotel, very close to Jewish Quarter, Old Town etc.

Room Tip: Higher floor and facing front side will have a better view

This hotel was fantastic, very central, only a few minutes walk from the Old Town Square and Astronomical Clock. The rooms were absolutely lovely, set in a pretty square that was so quiet we could hear bird song ! Yet this Hotel was very convenient for the Old Town and Jewish Quarter. The staff couldnt have been more friendly, recommending two great local restaurants that were superb, helping with tram times and routes, and how long it would take to walk to the Castle, 20 mins. The breakfast room was beautiful, and there was two lounges with an honesty bar, books etc, very comfortable a home from home, lovely!! Prague is beautiful and the icing on the cake for our four day trip was this wonderful hote at a reasonable price tool!

Room Tip: The rooms at the front of the Hotel overlook a beautiful quiet square with a lovely little terracott...

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel very much overall. The room was spacious, well furnished and comfortable, and was on a non-smoking floor. I didn't detect any sounds from neighbouring rooms so the sound-proofing must be good. We stayed at the rear of the hotel so can't comment on any noise you might hear from the street at the front, although it's not a particularly busy street in any case.

The location is very good: 10 minutes walk to old square, maybe 15 minutes to Wenceslas Square and Charles Bridge.

The breakfast was excellent with a wide choice of the usual cereals, fruit juices and bread. Also you can order things at no extra cost which you might be charged for at other hotels e.g. cappuccino, fruit smoothie, omelette, pancakes.

We used the spa which was very reasonably priced although we both felt slightly rushed by the staff at the end of the treatments.

You can get free refreshments in the lobby area and there is a lounge, internet access room (free access as I recall) and a library.

Only negative points:

Our room was constantly a couple of degrees warmer than we like, despite turning the thermostat down to a theoretical 5 degrees celsius! We asked at the reception for them to fix this but there was hardly any difference afterwards. Thankfully the window in the room opened so we cooled the room down this way.

In the lounge/ honesty bar on the ground floor smoking is allowed. This room opens out onto a corridor leading to the reception area. Unfortunately the door of the lounge was kept wedged open permanently. Therefore non-smokers such as ourselves are forced to breathe in cigarette fumes when in the vicinity of this room. When we checked in the background smell of cigarette smoke was the first thing we noticed.

We would consider staying here again due to its many good points. However, the smoking issue has put us off somewhat.

Dear Valued Guest,

thank you for your review. I am happy to hear you enjoyed your stay in Maximilian Hotel, namely the location, your room, breakfast and spa.

We want all of our guests to enjoy the same quality of place and service, that is why most of the rooms in the hotel are non-smoking. But there is a possibility to smoke in the Honesty Bar. Please be sure we will do our best to prevent the smoke from leaking into the other areas.

We are looking forward to seeing you again in Maximilian Hotel.

Kind regards,

Stayed with my wife for three nights during the coldest spell in Europe in 100 years. Had a room facing the church across the street. Room was wonderful and breakfast each morning was amazing. Staff was the most helpful of nearly any hotel we've stayed in. Not only did they find the local number for our airline (because our return flight airline had just gone bankrupt) when I couldn't find it online so we could rearrange our flight, but they also remembered that we'd been the guests asking about the Super Bowl when we returned and let us know the local channel where we could view it.

Public spaces are beautiful and the hotel's centrally located in Josefov and very near Old Town and a short walk to Charles Bridge (and close enough to walk to the train station). Prague was a great time, thanks in no small part to the service and accommodations at the Maximilian. Would stay there again without question.
