This is one of the best things to do by night in Prague as the views of the city lights and landmarks are stunning. Choose your cruise company very carefully though! We found out after the event that a cruise purchased from the hotel was not the same as that advertised on the company website. We also had to pay cash upfront so we had no protection when things went wrong at the last minute. Advice given at the hotel reception was misleading. The leaflet given to us was not for the trip we were booked on. Prague Expert are a bit more expensive but much better value for money. Don’t touch Best Tour with a barge pole. They did not deliver what was promised and their response to our complaint was unsatisfactory.

Just like the Danube in Budapest, the Vltava River in Prague is magical from many angles, whether in the main part of town with historical coloured buildings (see pic) on the riverfront or where it meanders more around Vysehrad (see pics).

The beautiful bridges (see pics) are wonderful views across the Vltava River and of course you can't beat the parade of swans and geese both on the riverbank (see pic), but also as they travel down the river itself. The sheer volume of these birds is an incredible sight to behold.

I highly recommend to either take a boat-trip or hire a pedalo for yourself and family. We did both activities while the weather was amazing.

Vltava is the longest river in the Czech republic and runs through its capital Prague and other important cities like Cesky Krumlov before merging with the Elbe river. In Prague, it runs through the heart of the city with the Old Town and New Town on its right bank and Mala Strana, Petrin Hill, Meronome and Prague Castle on its left.

It is crossed by many bridges including the famous Charles Bridge which is the oldest bridge in Prague.

A relaxing cruise along the river is a nice way to see Prague and its many prominent landmarks.

We had a problem with our reservation as it was not confirmed by viator. The ticket office tried to find out if we had been confirmed and could not, so we bought tickets. I expected more traditional accordian music and it was more elevator style accordian music. Food was not very good and the only beer on tap was Budvar. The cruise alone the river was nice and I would recommend taking a cruise only trip. The music and food are not worth the extra price.
