“Beautiful Space”
Reviewed 5 September 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Cannot praise this property enough. Filled with character & a very warm welcome.
It is so well equipped, no matter what your plans are, it accommodates. It's cosy, peaceful & comfortable, with the added friendliness of Steve, Kim, their son & dogs
we really can sing the praises enough of this converted Thomas Telford Church.
Highly recommend Wildskye boat trips, with Steve as your captain you'll have the most enjoyable informative few hours on the water, seeing Eagles, Seals & trying your hand at fishing, while experiencing a bit of history of the local area.
Many Thanks we will definitely be returning

Had a fantastic stay here. The old church is a great building which has fantastic views. Excellent accommodation and well throughout information for travelling. They have a map of all the local attractions in the hall which really helped. The kids loved the boat trip that the owners run as well. Recommend 100%

“A tranquil place.”

My partner and I stayed in this lovely cottage for one week. It sits in a very peaceful location with no light pollution. If you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all this is the place to come. On our arrival we found eggs on the table from Steve and KIms own hens and also a bottle of wine. The cottage is very spacious and very well equiped. We particularly liked the living room fire which we would light every evening when we returned from our days activities. It was easy to light but just to make sure there are detailed information folders available to read relating to everything in the house.. I don't think there was one evening where we didn't fall asleep in front of it. The cottage also provided us with plenty of hot water which was great because we both prefered a bath at night but there is also a seperate shower available. We arrived prepared for all weathers and there was plenty of space available to put all our gear. The garden looks over to the sea which was very pleasant when we had a barbeque on two evenings during our stay, one of those evenings incuded fish we had caught ourselves that day.
There are a number of good eating places within the area but all involve a car ride but it was no problem the roads are quiet. The nearest shops are in Dunvagen providing a reasonable selection but if you want a serious shop you need to travel to Portree which is over 20 miles away.
Although the owners live next door it was not and issue. The garden is shared but the owners were very discrete when we were using it so we were able to enjoy our barbeque. The sunset on this part of Skye was nothing short of stunning. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this cottage and made the most of the surrounding area and all it has to offer.

“Amazing cottage, perfect location”
Reviewed 16 October 2015 for a stay in October 2015

The Old Church is a converted church, one half available as a Holiday rental with the owners living next door in the other half of the building. During our stay the owners, Kim and Stephen were away on a break of their own in England but we did not feel neglected at all, with a text from them before we arrived and a welcome note and bottle of wine on the table once there.

The cottage is huge, with high ceilings and very large rooms. The entrance hall is welcoming with somewhere to leave boots and coats and an umbrella and torches were provided should they be needed. The large lounge/diner is very well equipped with a dining table, plenty of seating, a modern flatscreen TV, VHS/DVD player and a FreeSat Satellite box with recording facility, so you can set it to record your favourite shows if you're going to be out. There's a selection of books, videos and DVDs provided too. There's a great log burner fire that takes wood or coal with initial supplies provided. The lounge leads through to a very spacious kitchen with all mod cons, including tumble dryer, dishwasher, washing machine, fridge/freezer, breakfast table and plenty of utensils, cutlery and crockery.

The hallway leads up a wooden staircase to the upper floor where there is a large master bedroom with double bed and 2 singles in the same room. There is plenty of wardrobes and another small TV and Satellite receiver for watching upstairs. Three is second twin bedroom with 2 single beds and it's own washbasin. There is a superb bathroom with bath, large walk-in shower with doors, a washbasin and toilet. Throughout the property the large church windows have been retained giving plenty of light and spacious views of the garden and surrounding area. There is also a downstairs toilet and heating is provided throughout by radiators making the cottage warm and cosy. The cottage provides free wifi, which we found very useful as the mobile phone signal could be patchy at times. The wifi speed was better than expected given the rural location.

The location couldn't be better, being along a well kept single track road (B886) with plenty of passing places. This is about 4 miles from the main A850 which leads right to nearby Dunvegan and left to Portree (about 20 miles). We used the large Co-op at Portree, just off the first roundabout you reach on the A87 as you approach Portree from the cottage. It was very good for large shop for a variety of products. It is open 7.00 till 10pm, 7 days a week. Nearer to the cottage at Dunvegan is the Fasgadh Stores, a small grocery store for essential supplies including kindling and wood logs. It is open 9 till 6.30pm 6 days a week. We ate out on occasion during the day at the Lower Deck Fish restaurant on Quay Street in Portree, which I can recommend. We dined one evening at the Old School Restaurant in Dunvegan, which was outstanding (See my review on Trip Advisor for more information). There is plenty to see and do in the area and the scenery is amazing. The cottage has a table in the hallway with lots of information leaflets on it for places to discover. We would recommend the Old Church to all and would use it again if revisiting Skye.
