“The Best Beach House I've Stayed At In Costa Rica-Hands Down!”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I had the pleasure of staying four nights here with my 13 year old son.The cabina was immaculate, had all cooking utensils, great comfortable bed (with a net), gorgeous wood flooring inside and wood patio in the front.
This cabina can easily sleep four people, and it's very close to town where you can get just about anything you need and do any banking as well.

There are two great things about staying here. One, is the location. You walk down a nice little path, maybe 50 yards to a beautiful private little cove that has everything to offer from sea life (we snorkeled on low tide), and if you surf, the waves here can't get any better. We didn't fish, but we met a guy that was staying close by, and he was catching red snapper right from shore.

The second great thing are the hosts. Jim and Tricia were more than welcoming, it was if I knew them my whole life. They are very down to earth and have a well of information of the local area. They let us know about a waterfall which is a short 30 minute easy walk/hike. They also recommended other beautiful beaches within walking distance, or a short drive.

There also is a restaurant "Martina's" at the beginning of their road (also within walking distance) that serves excellent food, and on Friday nights, I beleive from 4-10pm, they have an art fair where local vendors and artists come to sell their items. We purchased locally grown coffee, organic soaps and lotions, as well as organic salsas. They had a great menu which changes daily, and offered fresh locally caught fish.

Our stay in Costa Rica this year was a total of three weeks. We stayed in many places all over the country which included the Nicoya Peninsula, the Caribbean side, Uvita/Dominical, and I can honestly say that this was by far our favorite area and favorite place that we stayed at. The water here was clearer, and bluer than the Caribbean side which was surprising to me. See the pictures that I attached.
I would highly recommend this cabina ( there are two on the property) to anyone as it was literally the best value with the best amenities and location.

“Experience Costa Rica in its absolutely raw, breathtaking, natural beauty at Cabinas Ola Mar.”

A 100 meter stroll in any direction from the cabina will reap good things whether it be the home of the most wonderful hosts (Jim & Tricia), the serenity of the beach or the wonderful food & party atmosphere of Martina's. An absolutely charming cabin with just enough amenities to be comfortable but few enough to feel the hustle and bustle of the fast-paced life you will escape while visiting. Whether walking the jungle roads for the day spotting tropical birds and various jungle wildlife (lots of monkeys!), taking a ride on the collectivo into Puerto Jimenez or being taught by locals how to properly crack & eat a fresh coconut, every day is a beautiful day! Plenty to do and it's all relaxing. Don't forget your camera, water shoes & sunscreen, brush up on your Spanish and GO!!!

“Warm, relaxing and peaceful vacation in beautiful Matapalo”
Reviewed 24 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Jim and Trisha were absolutely wonderful hosts! The cabina was comfortable, close to the beach, and surrounded by beautiful native plants. I especially liked the front porch hammock where I spent a lot of time. Loved the short walk to the beach down a path covered with hibiscus. The sunrise looking across Golfo Dulce was gorgeous and definitely worth getting up at 5 am. Saw monkeys, macaws, and parrots daily. It is a short walk to Martina's Bar and Resturant for good food and a wonderful artisans' farmers market on Friday nights that was more like a party than just a market. There is a friendly group of neighbors (residents and guests alike) to visit with at dinner or the beach, yet the beach is not at all crowded. Would recommend bringing water shoes as the beach is rocky. Overall a wonderful place to stay, relax, and rejuvenate. Would highly recommend this property as an affordable and beautiful vacation rental.

“Cockroaches and compost”
Reviewed 23 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Very unhappy guest. Driveway is not marked as they claim. No electricity-solar only. Not secluded, the main house is nearby, and another guest house is about 20 feet away and many other homes are within a close proximity. The compost pile is about 10 feet away from the Casa Titi so it smells of garbage. The only internet is at the main house in their living room. We saw cockroaches in the cabin and a line of huge ants. That was enough for the six hours we were there. We are still waiting on a refund. I am sure Jim and Trish will respond to this but are not responding to our refund emails. On a side note the beach is very rocky and not good swimming

“Ola Mar is sweet, comfy, beautiful & in paradise!”
Reviewed 4 February 2015 for a stay in February 2014

I had the privilege of staying at Ola Mar a few nights... and wish I could have stayed longer! It's the perfect rustic yet comfortable spot walking distance to the ocean's edge! It has all the amenities you need -- and is also set in the most beautiful natural surroundings with well-kept flowers, trees and Costa's amazing birds and monkeys. The community is absolutely lovely with the local meeting spot (restaurant, etc) just a short walk away. There's even a yoga studio with classes at the home next door. Connect with friendly locals or walk solo to your heart's desire -- surf, relax and be happy! This is the place to do it.
