For my recent birthday my sister offered to have the kids for a sleepover so we could get a night away. After a bit of thought we remembered this hotel which we visited about 8 years ago and thought it would be lovely to go back. We live in Southern Spain so it is also easy to get there by parking the car in Estacion de San Roque and getting the comfortable 1 hour train there. It was as lovely as we remembered, maybe even more as you appreciate things like tranquility more after having kids!! We cannot believe what a great time we had in literally less than 24 hours. We were met by Javier and shown to our beautiful room with a terrace overlooking the pool, the decor is very tasteful and the rooms are immaculate. We were given the menu to choose our meal for that evening, I was a little skeptical as there was only a choice of 2 mains fish or boar, non of which would have ordinarily been my first choice but I went with the boar anyway. After a lazy afternoon at the pool we got ready and went for dinner, the terrace setting at night is lovely, complete with fresh cut flowers and candles round the pool, they really dont overlook the small details. As for my boar, it was one of the most delicious meals I have had in a long time. The food was amazing, cooked by Pom´s son and you can tell he takes a real pride in his cooking and uses quality local produce. If we had a restaurant on our doorstep with that quality food it would be a firm favourite. Javier was on hand to recommend a local Ronda wine which was also amazing. They really do want to make sure that you have a great stay, nothing is too much trouble and its genuine as they take pride in their hotel. Overall a fantastic mini break and it definitely wont be another 8 years before we are back again!!

We stayed here for three nights in May and those were honestly the three most relaxing and enjoyable nights of any vacation I've ever had. The hotel is in the countryside 10 or so minutes outside of Ronda. It's a very small hotel in an old olive mill that has been renovated. The staff is tremendous. They helped us plan a day trip to some of the surrounding cities and gave us many recommendations of things to do in Ronda. They speak English and were very engaging and great to talk to, which was quite a relief after traveling to some other parts of Spain. I really can't say enough about them. The dinner at the hotel is a bit pricy, but you definitely get a gourmet meal prepared by an amazing chef with fresh, local ingredients. And the view from the dinner seating area is amazing. If I'm ever in Spain again I will be staying here for sure.

We stayed at Hotel La Fuenta De La Higuera for four nights in June. The Hotel was converted from an historic olive mill although from its appearance it was most likely a rather grand olive mill; the location and views are superb. The owners Pom and Christina (there is also a son Pedro who is the chef) effortlessly make their guests feel at home; this is a very sociable and friendly place to stay; the owners and staff chat easily as if they have known you for years. Located a few miles in the countryside outside Ronda, La Fuenta De La Higuera provides the best of both worlds; contrasting the peace and quiet of the Hotel with the attractions of the nearby town. Ronda itself is beautiful and relaxed; also not as touristy as we expected, it felt authentically Spanish, and somewhere that welcomes but is not dominated by its visitors. Also closeby are the “pueblos blancos” the white villages - ideal for touring - but remember to breathe-in when navigating a car through the dauntingly narrow streets! Staff at the Hotel helped us plan our trip. Meals on the terrace are delicious, the terrace has a wonderful country view; and there is a good sized pool to cool off in the day. But remember to pack a jumper for the sometimes slightly chilly evenings; Ronda is at a relatively higher altitude than the coastal resorts. All in all: an excellent place to stay; though perhaps a little pricey and the breakfasts could have been slightly more imaginative.

Room Tip: We had a suite on the corner ground floor; because of the open terrace at the rear which was sometim...

What a treat! This place is simply delightful and we had a lovely 3 nights here in between visiting Seville and Granada. After lots of visits of cathedrals and monuments this was the perfect retreat. We had booked 2 nights but stayed one more because it was so lovely. The service is excellent, very attentive and welcoming while at the same time not stuffy or in your face. The food was superb and dinner on the terrace overlooking the pool was a great setting. We also ordered room service and had a delicious paella on our terrace watching the sun go down. We were very lucky and got and unbelievable deal for the room we had which should normally have been more costly. On our final day 2 couples with you children arrived and that disturbed the tranquil environment. Seemed like an odd choice of hotel for young children, but we were out all day so not a big issue. Thank you Pom and Christina, you were exquisite hosts and we will definitely be back!

Room Tip: Room number 10 with its copper tub, sitting room and gorgeous terrace with views to the valley is a m...
