Extremely tasty food, presented beautifully. Polite, charming service that neither rushed you or left you waiting for food. Good atmosphere with unobtrusive background music. Will definitely return with family/ friends. It isn’t cheap but you know that when you book, and you come away feeling you’ve had excellent value for your money. Thank you for a lovely evening.

We went for lunch for my mother in laws birthday - 2 couples and our 18 month old daughter. It's a lovely pub / restaurant (is more of a restaurant than a pub), with a relaxed atmosphere. Great food - all of our meals were of a really good standard & well presented. The menu is great with some excellent specials - lots of fish dishes which we were all pleased about, as well as lamb, steak, burgers etc. The service was great - the staff are really friendly and the wine list is good. The only minor draw back is they have no baby changing. But otherwise - a really lovely lunch and would highly recommend.

Having been recommended it we visited for a Sunday lunch; the menu read very well, the quality & presentation of all courses was excellent, the service level matched this and The Poet itself a lovely character venue. All four of us would love to go back & am sure we will

The Poet is my local and as a reasonably frequent visitor, I have omitted to review it simply because it is my local but I feel it needed a review from me after my latest lunch a few days ago.

Petrus and his team have worked hard to get this restaurant to such an outstanding level that people travel from far off to enjoy its ambiance and great food. The downside is that it is becoming harder to get a table and so booking in the evening is an absolute must.

The set menu for lunch is unlike most set menus elsewhere and is more like a light dinner at a smart London restaurant without the London prices. It has to be the one of the best restaurants in Kent now and beats almost every restaurant I have reviewed in the last three years.

Petrus came and joined us for a chat afterwards and he deserves every accolade in the book for not only being utterly charming but a fabulous chef. This place trounces every restaurant in Tunbridge Wells but please don’t come here too often otherwise us locals won’t be able to dine here because it is always fully booked.

Well done all of you - I know it’s a team effort!

Thank Alastair J
