Thanks for your review. We are so glad you enjoyed your stay . We had a chuckle over the title of your review as the suite you stayed in is our least arty! Better 'arty farty' than 'boring shmoring'!

Drift House is a relaxing modern full facility place to stay in Port Fairy

Colleen and John are great hosts. The apartments are modern Well furnished and self contained. Light meals available. We enjoyed the lunch hamper

It is well located. Close to all the features of Port Fairy and a short walk to a range of great restaurants. Recommend Conlans Wine Bar

Thank you we greatly appreciate your 5* review. It is great to have your feedback on our 'Take On Your Way Lunchbox'. It is created by our friend and caterer, Jo O'keefe. She is passionate about good food that is healthy and hearty. On a long trip our lunchbox makes it easy to eat well, especially as Jo caters for special dietary requirements such as gluten free/ vegetarian and vegan.

We stayed in suite 3 and found it very spacious and comfortable for our weekend break. Very bright, and three zones, bedroom, bath, and living. The outdoor courtyard was a nice addition and the garden is beautiful. The service was good - mainly by text as needed and responsive. Breakfast was thoughtful and replenished as needed. We found that everything had been thought of to create a comfortable stay and we particularly appreciated the pre-arrival information and restaurants being booked for us ahead of our visit. Look forward to going back

Room tip: Suite 3 has the outdoor fireplace and private courtyard

Others have raved about its idiosyncratic style, the eclectic conjunction of old and new and it may work for you; for us it didn't. We stayed in Room 1, This is a large ground floor room at the front of the property, the sleeping end is pictured above. The bath is positioned in the sleeping area about 1 metre from the bed - the picture shows plenty of natural light in the bath and bed area because the curtains and blind are open. The bath is 5 metres from passers by in the street. Decency requires the blinds closed when there is not enough light in the room to read anywhere in the room - even with all of the lights on (save for the reading light above the bed). A well appointed and finished modern shower room relies on a window into the bedroom (above the bed) for natural light giving a view of the toilet from the sleeping area.

The furniture is 1970 style, tired and not very comfortable - the small table and chairs to eat from especially so.

The breakfast hamper (Eggs, avocado, sourdough and dukkah) is excellent and replenished daily on request.

The property is well positioned for the many facilities on the town.

Room tip: Room 2 is probably best

Thank you for the feedback on your recent stay at Drift House.

We are so glad that you enjoyed your breakfast as we try our very hardest to source the best local local, organic ingredients for our hampers.

We particularly appreciate your feedback on the design of your suite. When we established Drift House we worked with one of Australia's leading design architects. Our brief to them was to create something individual and unique; an exemplar of modern design in a heritage context. Drift House has won many awards for its design, most notably a commendation from Australia's peak architectural body, the Australian Institute of Architects.

The vast majority of guests respond really well to the design, but for design to be truly great it must polarise opinion. So the fact that it was was not to your taste is in a strange way reassuring to us!

We stayed in Room 1 while driving the Great Ocean Road. Unfortunately we were only at Drift House for one night. It was a great and welcome surprise to find such a high end, imaginative, modern yet comfortable room in one of the historic properties in Port Fairy.
Colleen made us very welcome and her recommendation for an evening meal was excellent and easily walkable. The breakfast basket was full of delicious local products. All in all, a very memorable stay.

Thank you for taking the time to write this review.

We are so glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay in Suite 1 and wished you had stayed longer. Guests are often surprised when they walk through the front door of this suite as the traditional Victorian era facade gives little hint as to the design inside.

It's good to hear that you enjoyed dinner at the restaurant we recommended. Port Fairy is a relatively small town, but we are lucky in that it has several great restaurants, all within a short walk of Drift House.
