Definitely don't drive past this attraction - there are several short walks here, all with fabulous views and sites - get your camera ready, and try to read the whole story - it's one of the most tragic shipwreck stories along this Shipwreck Coast

The wild weather we experienced our trip added to the story of the shipwreck at Loch Ard. Seeing the raging sea bursting through the narrow opening you could really appreciate the miracle of the survivors landing here. Don’t just look down from the lookout. Head down the stairs to the caves and beach for a better appreciation of the story.

Located on the Great Ocean Road near the Twelve Apostles the gorge provides beautiful sea views, wild scenery, and breath-taking natural monuments. the rock formations are rugged and provide a ideal setting for the tragic story of Tom and Eva which is iconic to the location. This is an ideal setting for sunbathing and wedding photo ops but try to arrive early since the location can be very crowded mid day with busloads of tourists. There is a series of narrow wooden stairs that provide access to the beach. Parking is abundant and there is no admission fee.

This is another stop over one shouldnt missed along GOR... Photos just wouldnt do any justice to the exact beauty of this place. It will be crowded with tourists but just make the best of it. Everyone would love to have good photos taken at a good spot. Dont expect too much to be disappointed :)

Loch Ard Gorge is admittedly a beautiful spot on the GOR, however don't let the photos fool you, you will not be able to come here expecting to be able to enjoy it properly. It is literally over run with tourists. Busloads pull up every 5 minutes.

You will que to get down to the beach, and then que to get back up. You wont be able to sit on the beach and relax, or even explore the beach area all that much, unlike pictures suggest. Thousands of people come through here each day. I post this review mainly because so many people seemed disappointed when I was there last. The seemed to be under the impression that the GOR attractions are still some sort of secluded wilds.

Like the 12 Apostles, if you come expecting an overcrowded tourist trap, you won't be disappointed. If you come thinking you're going to be able to enjoy it at a leisurely pace, think again.
