From the moment you arrive you feel welcome and a sense that you have happened upon a true gem. We were so fortunate to have found this lovely retreat. I can't say enough about the owners, they are truly just wonderful people who have a love and admiration for the wildlife that surround them, and the joy of making others happy.
This sweet cottage is nestled on a beautifully landscaped property surrounded by 40 acres of scented eucalyptus trees. The path through the trees is a must for sighting koalas and we enjoyed spotting 15. In the morning while having breakfast on the deck, including fresh eggs from the owner's chickens, thank you girls, we were surrounded with the beauty of colorful birds and a wallabie with her baby joey. That was a first for us, and obviously a memorable sight!
If you are planning a visit to Apollo Bay and are looking for a tranquil space of divine beauty with hosts that will make your stay a memory of a lifetime to enjoy the true gift that Australia is to this world, then this if undoubtedly the place to stay!

Beautiful setting and nothing was too much trouble for Roz and Pete. Roz sent us off with home grown Zucchini (delicious) and Pete took us 'Koala hunting' - very successfully!!
A memorable and most enjoyable visit.

“Home away from home - peace and serenity”

Barham Hill Retreat was just that 'a retreat'. Far away from the hussle and bussle, but close enough to enjoy the activities Apollo Bay has to offer. Hats off to the hosts, Roz and Peter, who kept us fully stocked for breaky and a supply of fresh eggs was much appreciated. Thanks again.

Three wonderful winter days, enjoying the open fire, the beautiful views of the Otway tall trees, feeding the birds and bonding with Sammy (the Shetland Pony) and the free ranging chooks! Many thanks Roz and Pete for providing such a lovely and homely cottage for Chris and I to lose ourselves within and totally relax...

“Perfect serenity”

Our stay in Barham Hill couldn't have been better. Roz and Peter were immaculate hosts, the setting of the property is stunning and the sounds of the Australian bush are all you can hear. The cottage is comfortable and well-appointed, with a great wood-burning stove and a thoughtfully compiled breakfast. The children loved feeding the parrots on the verandah, the Shetland pony, the kookaburras at dusk, seeing wallabies in the garden. All too brief for us, we will be back for a longer stay one day....
