We were seated near the window so had a lovely view.
We had hoped for some KI produce but there was not a real lot of evidence of this on the menu.
To start, we shared a dozen scallops with lemon grass, chilli and lime ($18). Okay but lacking zing. Bread rolls and butter were provided. For our mains, we had carpet bag steak ($38) served with smashed potatoes, steamed greens and a green peppercorn sauce – the steak was grisly but the sauce and the rest of the meal was tasty. The other main was the surf and turf ($38) topped with prawns and scallops with a hollandaise sauce. Steak was not cooked medium and had a strange taste. Sauce was nice.
Finished with coffee that came with 2 jelly beans each (love it when they provide a little something with the coffee).
Had a nice bottle of KI wine. Springs Rd Shiraz 2006 $24.50 - very nice. The Bay of Shoals Shiraz 2008 is however even nicer (tasted that the next day at the winery which is worth a trip).
