Beautiful old cottage in surprising lush bush location. Complete with farm dogs and all the charm of a beautifully restored workers cottage. Highly recommend this cottage for a relaxed stay.

“A comfy cosy cottage away from the main drag”

We stayed at Brown's House for 2 nights recently to experience the Clare Valley and cycle the Riesling trail. We were looking for privacy, comfort and to be surrounded by nature. This was an authentic farmstay experience with great atmosphere and some nice "foodie" surprises in the fridge. We arrived to the warm and friendly greeting of the labrador, Jasper, who is not afraid of a good cuddle. The house is spacious and clean, the bed comfortable and it was lovely to fall asleep in crisp linen amidst the peace and quiet of the countryside and then get up in the morning and explore the property. A unique experience. Thank you Gail!

“Wonderful cottage”

If you want to stay in a farmhouse/cottage that is made entirely of pressed metal, yet has all the modern conveniences, then this is it! Wonderful location on a large farm with friendly owners and (their dogs). Very quiet and peaceful. Although the weather was hot (above 35 C), the air conditioning and fans in the bedrooms was sufficient to keep us cool. A great experience, particularly for our UK friends who had never been exposed to Australian history such as this.

“One of the most pleasant, inexpensive short getaways in a long time ... a must stay if needing some time out with a love”

From the point of enquiring about availability to the very sad drive up the driveway being solomley followed by two of the most gorgeous dogs we've ever met, the entire experience was nothing less than fabulous. We, without trepidation, recommend this beautiful little home if you are looking for a short getaway with a good wine and a loved one. We settled in on a crisp winter evening so the open fire was a real treat. The home is extrmely clean and the bed is very comfy. We will not hesitate in returning to Browns House within the year. A special mention the the darling owner Gail who made the experience all the more delightful with such a warm and most welcoming manner from the start right until the end. Thank you Gail ... and if you happen to be a dog lover or even liker ... youre in for a great welcome!

“Lovely quiet cottage with 'extras'”
Reviewed 28 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

My husband and I spent 3 cosy nights here in June and loved it. The cottage is warm and comfortable with lots of charm and nice 'extras'.

We enjoyed the well stocked kitchen and delicious breakfast provisions of bacon, eggs, milk, bread, homemade jam, honey and museli - enough to feed us for breakfast and also dinner! The chocolates and local Clare port were also very nice!

The 2 bedrooms are large and comfortable with quality linen and beds. There is a modern bathroom and laundry.
The living room has a nice fireplace with a good supply of firewood. The old photos on the walls give an interesting insight into family life on the property. TV reception is not great but we were happy to read a book by the fire.

We particularly enjoyed the lovely friendly labrador who came to visit us from the nearby main house and joined us on our walks around the farm. We didn't see the family in the main house so unfortunately never found out his name.

The cottage is less than 10 minutes from Clare and its location is quiet and restful. We had a lovely time exploring the local area and vineyards by car and also a short bike ride from Clare to Seven Hills (Clare Valley bike hire is near the start of the cycling trail and the guy gives useful advice on where to go). There are lots of great places to eat and visit - Skillogalee and The Little Red Grape bakery/ wine shop were highlights.
Definitely recommend Brown's House for a charming country stay.
