A relatively short track - the 4WD part id just over 200km - that was only pushed through this rather inaccessible country in the late 1970s by a local farmer. Goog's Track has become one of the iconic Australian 4WD adventures for the simple reason that it is still an adventure and not some tamed pussy cat thing.
My recommendation is that you plan for a 5 day trip: Day 1 - Ceduna to Goog's Lake, Day 2 - Lois Rocks and back, Day 3 - quiet rest day walking around/across Goog's Lake (a large salt lake with a significant island in the middle that you can walk to), Day 4 - Goog's Lake to Mt Finke, Day 5 - Mt Finke to Kingoonya/ Glendambo.
Please travel the track from south to north, not north to south because it is so narrow that in the unlikely event you meet someone coming the other way the odds are that you'll need to reverse over several sand dunes in order to find a passing spot.
Be prepared for multiple recovery operations - there are 363 dunes to cross, up to 5 stories high. Be well equipped - recovery gear, water, decent amounts of fuel and a satellite phone are essential. Travel with others too.
Most of all, enjoy!
