Food was pretty good. Had Kimchi hotpot and dokpoki, and were very good. We did go early in the evening, so was not busy and managed to get a table to sit. They have around three tables on the street, so if you go there during busy times, dont expect to get a seat.... this place is mainly for takeaway. Also, this is not located in Trinity Beach... its on Lake st, in Cairns.

Thank dmkory

Seoul Express is tucked away with some other Asian places on Lake St, in a quiet part of Cairns. We are always fans of trying these small, seemingly family run, hopefully authentic places.
Sadly on this occasion we were disappointed. When we placed our order, a Spicy pork and squid with kimchi and spicy beef bowl, we were informed that they would be to spicy for us and we would have to order something else. While I appreciate that they don't know that we eat spicy food a lot, not letting us order was a bit much! We held our ground on the pork and opted for a mild beef.
We were VERY disappointed. The beef was bland and chewy and too dry. The rice tasted a few days old and there were no accompaniments apart from some Japanese mayo. No flavour and a sorry bowl of food.
The pork was mildly spicy, at first it tasted okay, but after a few bites it was evident that it had no other dimension. It was just pork with the spicy chilli paste that had been used to flavour. The kimchi was nowhere to be seen and the squid was horribly overcooked. Again old, dry rice and Japanese mayo accompanied this dish.
Oh well- We won't be back, nor recommend.
