I have been fortunately enough to stay in a few hotels that I would call very luxurious like the four seasons. Lillenfels costs about the same as the four seasons so I would expect the same level of property and service and so I am critical because it should be that standard if it wants that price .

It didn’t come close. Everyone said it was amazing before I went but I am not sure if they have stayed here or just had tea here as it is not worth the money.

It is a hotel where I felt quite gouged constantly, everything felt like it should have been a third less than they charged eg room, drinks etc

The good
The room is lovely and it is big
The pool is really warm
The grounds are lovely
The setting is amazing – right by the 3 sisters
Food is good

The bad
Service – my friends ordered drinks from the waiter – it took 35 minutes to deliver them – they ended up having to go to the bar to remind them
Service – for breakfast they said it would be a 10 minute wait and they would find us when a table was ready – 25 minutes later we decided to take the initiative and go back and see if there were any tables – there were lots – they just had not bothered to let us know
Coffee – for $450 a night (breakfast included) I would have expected to have a cappuccino included in with breakfast – nope – that will be $5.50 extra please – just felt gouged
Spa/ Sauna – Dirty , pools of water on the floor and only 2 glasses for the water, and they were used
Air Con in our room was tough to get really cold at night – it only goes to 19 c
The sink did not drain properly and one of the phones in the room did not work – small things I know but again if you want to charge 5 star hotel prices everything should work.

I know I am in the minority as this place is so busy you have to book a 2 night minimum but I don’t get it.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you for reviewing your recent experience at Lilianfels Blue Mountains Resort and Spa

I am pleased to hear your positive comments in regards to your stay. I do also thank you for your valuable constructive feedback. We have taken on board your comments and discussed them with the relevant department manager for our improvement. I am sorry to hear of the delays with the food and beverage department. I apologise that the service was not to standard on this occasion.

I will also follow up in regards to the air-conditioning and basin drainage as the air-conditioning should reach at least 25 degrees and of course the basin should drain correctly.

I do thank you for sharing your experience with us and I do apologise that the stay was not to expectation in various areas.

Should you be planning a return trip in the future then please do let me know in advance and I will ensure a seamless stay in all regards.

With thanks,

Ralf Bruegger

My wife and myself spent 3 days holidaying at Lilianfels Resort, I must say it is one of the most gracious and special hotel I have stayed at, firstly on our arrival the service and help from the staff was exceptional. Not knowing what to expect regarding the room, we were blown away with the heritage of the room accommodation, it takes you back to the true word of 5 star accommodation, very traditional furniture, just made our stay fabulous. Down stairs there is a bar and area where you are able to sit in front of a open fire and relax with a bottle of champagne and we enjoyed a large plate of dips to compliment the champagne, the young waitress new exactly what food we liked, again the service was exceptional for the 4 hours we sat, drank, ate and relaxed it is the most relaxing Resort we have ever holidayed at and we have travelled to different parts of the world, this place is worth visiting.
I have written up the restaurant on trip adviser but I will again mention that it is the best meal my wife and myself have ever been served at a hotel or resort, don't take my word for it you should take a trip to the hotel just to sample the restaurant food, you won't find better

From driving up to this beautiful resort , to driving out 4 days later, we did not have one complaint.
Everyone in all areas of the hotel went above and beyond. Also don't leave without visiting Kate in the Spa (she has magic hands).

We booked the Indulgence Package which included a massage for 2, and dinner at Echoes. We were pleasantly greeted in the classic style, and enjoyed some Devonshire tea in the comfortable lounge right near the fire place. The staff are friendly and courteous and the location of the hotel is an easy stroll or drive to the touristy areas. It was a chilly weekend, but the sun came out everyday making it simply gorgeous. Thanks for taking care of us!

An ideallyic retreat that provide great comfort and atmosphere in its beautiful surroundings. Just avoid any conference groups - so ask about their prescence before deciding on seating in the lovely lounge or dining areas.
