The location is beautiful!! Just a short walk up from the main street up the hill to the apartments which all have panoramic views of the ocean. Was really amazing!! Would recommend to anyone!!

We stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment for a girls trip away and really loved the Sea Star. The managers could not have been any more friendly and helpful.
Other people have complained about the big hill, and it is a big hill, but we just got a cab, which only cost $5 to $7. There are cabs everywhere and you never have to wait. Too easy.
The apartments are very big and very clean. The views are amazing. The only negative I had was that the spa is not heated. We were looking forward to a nice relaxing spa and enjoying the view but it was freezing cold. I would not have even been able to get in. I'm sure in summer it would be much warmer but during winter and spring it's not useable.
Apart from that it was an amazing stay and I would highly recommend the Sea Star to anyone.

Spent five days here, apartments were lovely. When we arrived we were met by Julie the manager, she was a lovely lady, so helpful and nothing was to much trouble or her.
Like previous people have commented the apartments are on a very steep hill, so no good if you have problems walking. The apartment has no lifts either but it only has 3 floors but still a nuisance if you have to carry heavy cases up the stairs.
The apartment was lovely and clean, had everything that you need for a self catering holiday, it also had a washing machine & laundry. The furniture is a little dated but on the whole very nice. It has a nice balcony over looking the ocean, lovely views to eat your breakfast in the morning.
There is a lovely pool area but again there was a lot of steps to get to it & if you wanted to use the spa there was more steps again. The pool & spa were very cold, so we only used it the one time.
The town is ok, it's full of young backpackers, there's a lovely lagoon, with two big pools & some great facilities like BBQ, shaded eating areas, toilet & shower blocks, all clean & very modern.
Airlie Beach disappointed me as it didn't really have any beaches! We drove out to Montes Reef and DIngo beach which were ok but the tide was on the way in & it didn't really leave much of a beach to sit on. We also drove to Bowen, it had some lovely beaches. We also visited Conway beach & Wilson beach but the tide was way out & you were left with just mud flats.
We booked a trip through Julie to take us around the Whitsundays, we went with Whitehaven Xpress, wow, what an awesome day, they picked us up at the apartment & dropped us off at the marina, we went to the look out over Whitehaven beach, then it dropped us off at the beach, what can I say, pure heaven. They made us a BBQ & we stayed here for a couple of hours before heading off to Mantaray to do some snorkeling, I highly recommend this trip.

All in all we had a great holiday.

Really impressed with the views from the balcony and the curious cockatoos! would recommend these apartments to anyone wishing to stay in close proximity to Airlie Beach but far enough away from the backpacker fraternity. We had our own car so the hill wasn't a problem for us but it is quite steep and could possibly deter people without transport who have a a medical condition or possibly families with small children due to steepness of the climb. The apartment was spotless and truly a "home from home"....we booked a couple of trips to the islands through the apartments and were picked up directly outside the front door and dropped off again in the evening. The pool is nice but not really very child friendly in my opinion (more suited to adults), we made more use of the Lagoon in Airlie which is really safe and fantastic for children, my 5 year old son loved it there.

We chose Airlie Beach as an anniversary weekend getaway at the end of September. I chose Sea Star based on reviews on Trip Advisor. We were late arriving due to work and car trouble. Julie called while we were on our way to find out how far away we were from arriving. We finally arrived around 7:30pm and Alan greeted us from their balcony and told me that the key to our unit was taped on the office door.

When we walked into our apartment, #220, we were impressed. We loved that the livingroom was sunken, 2 sliding doors to the balcony and the views out to the water. The kitchen overlooked the livingroom and is fully outfitted with dishwasher, all dishes, cutlery and small appliances. The complaint my husband had was the coffee cups were too small, restaurant size. He would have liked a good size coffee mug, we ended up buying one.

We were in a 2 bedroom apartment, which was a great size overall. Master bedroom had a queen bed, although it looked bigger than a queen to me. I found the bed and pillows too hard for my liking. There was a sliding door off the bedroom to the balcony. Master bedroom also had a large walk in closet and the ensuite had double sinks and a walk in shower. Our daughter was in the second bedroom which had a queen size bed. Main bathroom had a large vanity with a single sink, shower is over the bathtub. Separate laundry room with washer and dryer.

There is a pool that overlooks the ocean, through the trees. Unfortunately we didn't get to enjoy the pool. On the next level above the pool is a spa and bbq area. Pool and spa looked nice and inviting.

Sea Star is up on a hill, therefore the road up is steep and when turning onto Nara Ave, your car may scrape, like ours did. I asked Julie if there was a trick to turning onto this road without the scraping and she told us to swing wide and turn on Nara Ave on the wrong side of the road (permitting there is no car coming down the road) ... it worked!

Each apartment at Sea Star comes with a garage, the first night we parked in one of the parking bays, the next day Julie asked if we could park in the garage because Sea Star was busy. I wasn't completely comfortable doing this as I felt getting our car (Hyundai ix35-Tucson) into the garage would be a tight fit and it was, but we did it for the 2nd night.

Main street in Airlie Beach is a few minutes drive. Considering it was school holidays, Airlie Beach wasn't as crowded or as touristy as I had expected, having never been before, I was going on what people have told me. Airlie Beach have markets every Saturday morning along the beachfront. While we were there, the Sea Princess cruise ship was sitting out in the water, for this instance, a small amount of market stalls opened on the Friday morning...hoping to catch passengers from the ship.

Back to Sea Star.....overall we were impressed and we will be back, with the intention to spend a week there. We are hoping to bring my parents from Toronto, Canada with us next time, but if that doesn't happen, we will definitely be back anyway!!

P.S. I did have a chuckle when we got home and turned on the computer...within 15-30 minutes of our check out an email was sent asking us to write a review on Trip Advisor!!! I would have written a review regardless...I always do!
