Couldn't believe the difference that the dry makes to the billabong ! Still a fair few types of birds on site but next to no water , very dry. We sat in the shade on a 40+ day and watched some mad German tourists doing the circuit walk ! The walk is really good but on a cooler day people !!

We started walking around this billabong at about 8.30 am and it was already very hot, but we enjoyed the experience all the same as there were only a couple of other people there so we could really enjoy the bird life as well as the agile wallabies grazing. There was hardly any water at this time of the year so there were lots of birds in a rather confined space, including the two types of whistling ducks, magpie geese, egrets and an emu with six chicks. It took us about two hours to complete the circuit as we stopped many times to take photos as well as just enjoy the whole environment. This experience was definitely one of the highlights of our trip to Kakadu.

This circuit walk is still worth the effort of walking 2.5k in 40 degrees. Lots of birds, an alleged feral buffalo and very diverse landscape. Ample parking available. If you feel up for it, climb the hillside nearby for a spectacular view of the area

I know lots of people watch sunset at yellow water or Ubirr but this place is just as good!!!

Although not much water left in the billabong, there are hundreds of water birds around. You can also spot wallabies.

It is not as crowded as other popular places so you can just relax and enjoy the peacefulness...

A beautiful location to explore with wonderful birdlife and plants. The walk is set some distance from the edge for safety and well worth doing. Alternatively you can just drive to a few spots along one side.

Plenty of parking.

We walked the perimeter of the billabong. There were croc warnings but we visited in dry season so didn’t see any but remained vigilant anyway on the parts of the walk near to the edge of the billabong.

It was a beautiful walk, definitely worth a visit - especially if you like birds as there were hundreds on the billabong.

Just a short drive from rock art side...bring a picnic or just relax under the rock outcrops in the background. There is ample parking and picnic tables with grassy areas. But remember to be CrocWise.

This walks winds around a billabong. I recommend going late afternoon or early morning to avoid the heat and to see more bird life. We also saw many wallabies. This walk has some stunning outlooks. Don’t forget the big spray.

Easy road access, ample parking.

This is a large pretty billabong with many birds. We saw many Magpie geese (aboriginals favourite meal) and Whistling ducks. The water was covered with water lilies and the surrounding area was very pretty. There is a 3 km walking track around the billabong. As usual, in these areas, one must head the signs regarding crocodiles.
