If the New Zealand Tourist Board were to produce a booklet of instructions for 'wannabe' holiday property letters they should include a number of Roger and Adele's methods as best practice.
We stayed at Coppergate in Feb. 2016.My wife and I were visiting from the UK and we were joined by our son and daughter in law and our two young grandchildren from Auckland.
During the booking process the owners website had even included a video of the property being built.
On our arrival we were greeted by a personalised letter welcoming us to the property and area.
Coppergate is a lovely property in a beautiful quiet setting some 3 kilometres from the pretty coastal village of Mapua. There one can find pleasant restaurants bars and coffee shops, the village also has a well stocked 4 Square.
The property is well presented and furnished with superb views from an expansive deck.Available ,if needed, but never intrusive Roger and Adele live nearby.
We arrived at just the right time for the adjacent orange, lemon, grapefruit and apple trees to be fruiting and we were encouraged to take all we needed. Nine sheep roam in the field alongside Coppergate and they love apples. 3 year old grandson Ben loved feeding them.
Chickens wander about one even coming in if invited.
Well equipped with clear instructions on use of white goods etc. An impressive kitchen augmented by rear deck with barbecue we lacked for nothing.
Shortly after our stay we received an e-mail thanking us for staying with them.
We can highly recommend a stay here.

“Perfect & stylish place for a family reunion”
Reviewed 2 February 2016 for a stay in January 2016

We booked both houses for an 11 person family reunion - ages 13 to 74. Place is the ideal base for all age groups & tastes. Coppergate the more elegant, Corrugate quirky & funky. Both houses extremely well equipped with good quality appliances etc. We lacked nothing (except toilet paper as we weren't sure which type to buy for the bio-septic system initially) :-)
The Gates & Mapua are the perfect base for a getaway (nicer than Nelson!) & so much closer to Ruby Coast & Abel Tasman Nat park. The property delights young & old with its sheep, chickens, playgrounds, views, fruit trees (laden with plums this time of year!), Kids were roaming, adults sitting on the lovely deck chillaxing with wine, enjoying the stunning views. Exploring the area during the day & gathering back at CopperGate for big family dinners & tales of adventure!
So private, so relaxing - recommend 5 night min as there's so much to do & see. Roger & Adele perfect hosts - unobtrusive, but always informative, helpful & friendly! It's been a pleasure staying there! Oh- did I mention the fantastic internet/wifi?
Almost sounds too good to be true, but trust me - it really was worth the price!

Wow! Lovely (and of course, accurate!) review. Thanks so much. We feel humbled. It was great to see you enjoy Copper Gate and Corru Gate at The Gates. We now have Kissing Gate glamping for your next stay - lovingly restored retro caravans (Pearl for the lounge; Ruby the sumptuous boudoir) and separate luxury bathroom and kitchen beside a pond. All the best - you were such amazing guests.

“Exceptional property and host”
Reviewed 23 February 2015 for a stay in February 2015

Corru gate was everything we hoped for. We are 4 Canadian friends travelling throughout NZ and the 4 bedroom house was ideal. It was clean and well appointed, close to many of the towns, parks and sights we hoped to see in the area. We golfed the local course where the scenery was breathtaking and spent a day hiking in Abel Tasman park. Coming back to Corru Gate at the end of a busy day to sit on the deck with a glass of wine in this beautiful tranquil setting was perfect. And we had more fun with the sheep in the front pasture. Our host was personable and very helpful about the local attractions.
