First impressions were not good. We arranged for the hotel to collect us from the airport and take us to the hotel. The driver was there when we exited and we were taken to a old and battered MPV, we didn't mind this too much, cars around here are not great anyway, but the air-conditoning would only work for 5 minutes at a time followed by much button pressing by the driver until it worked again. Not a pleasant 40 minute drive in 40+ degree heat.

Anyway we arrived at the gates and impressions were good, it looks grand and imposing, sadly this isn't the case once through the door. The hotel lacks furniture and feels a bit like they have run out of money to do any further updates. Check-in was a bit of a shambles as the staff don't seem to have any specific jobs so it's a little bit of running around like headless chickens. We were upgraded to a Grand Tent which was a lovely surprise and off we went to the room. The tent was large and spacious with modern amenities but quite dirty. As it was also very windy the tented roof was loud and annoying and we thought we may not be able to sleep. On the hotel website it also says there is a private garden area bit this is not the case. There is a table and chairs outside the front of the tent on the walkway, not exactly private seating. The bathroom was open topped into the tent which might also have been annoying for anyone going to the loo!

There was very little hotel information in the room apart from a letter from the manager explaining different activities from "musical chairs" and "flying plate" amongst a few, very strange and not really something that appeals to us. There was also only 1 restaurant in the hotel with a VERY limited selection of food on offer, this would have been OK if only staying for a night but we were booked for 3 nights and would have found it very limiting. The other restaurant is not yet open but apparently they do serve food around the pool area. Also, as the hotel is way out of Jaipur and no taxis or tuk tuks are outside it would be very difficult to nip out for something else to eat.

We called room service to order some drinks as the mini-bar only contained 2 warm cans of coke and after 2 further phone calls these never actually materialised. By this stage we had both had enough and decided to check-out and stay somewhere else nearer Jaipur with a bit more on offer. Glad we did!

The hotel were most anxious for us not to leave offering a free nights accommodation but we had already arranged a booking with another hotel by this time. To be fair the manager did take us to the other hotel in his own car as a taxi would take a while to arrive (it is far out of Jaipur). As we were leaving to get into his car, magically some drinks arrived on a tray, not much good at that stage but never mind.

Having checked into the other hotel we were called by reception to say that the Rajasthali had provided a cake for us as an apology for not meeting out expectations, nice touch but perhaps sort the hotel out first!

Room Tip: Book somewhere else!

The place is brand new, and the food outstanding. Do ask for Chef Dhaliwal. He is a great conversationalist and ever ready to accommodate special requests (am sure with some limitations). The pool is nice but the gym is kept under wraps in a TENT! I was there in mid March and it was impossible to workout. There is no air-conditioning nor any air circulation to speak of. I don't think anyone has used the machines since they were installed (are they installed?) Another less known fact is that their bar was not functional (when we were there). I missed a chilled beer in the afternoon. You need to plan your evenings as they can be mundane even though there was some music and dinner laid poolside. I would have been happy to rate this with 5 stars if the gym and bar were in place. I would have given it 3 stars, the extra one is for the Chef and his magical fingers.

I would caution the staff from having dance parties running into the wee hours of the morning. The banquets area hosted a party one night and the music was irritating even in the bed room behind thick curtains AND after keeping the hall doors close. The party went on till 2 am or so.

Room Tip: Far from the banquet hall but near the pool... they have a couple that open on to the pool.

We didn't stay here but we enjoyed a delicious Dinner in the attractive outdoor garden beside the pool and in the beautifully decorated restaurant. The service was excellent and the food was amazing.

Try the dal makhani and a corn based starter (m forgetting the name).

Thanks all the people.

From what the hotel staff told me we were the 5th large group to stay there, its that new. Was on a business meeting and stayed for 3 days. Its some way away from the city and peacful but if you are looking for a place that close to the sites etc then be informed that the closed place of Interest - Amber Fort is around 14-15kms away and you will have to have transport arranged....no tuk tuks etc to be found on this highway. The staff seems eager to help but they need to work on the time it takes for food etc.. had to wait 15-20 mins for coffee at the dining area. The rooms are beyond what one would expect for a small resort - at least the one I was in was as good as any 5 star hotels. They have this whole welcome worked out - luggage and you if you are willing, are transported from the gate to reception area by camel cart! Rajasthan is really wonderful in these kind of things which you will not experiance anywhere else. This is an ideal place for a getaway from the busy world - relax and drive to which ever palace/ tourist spot when were you want to - not for the serious tourist/backpacker.
