There was one minor hitch: we had arranged to have a particular room, confirmed by email, but when we arrived that room was occupied and we were given a different room. However, the new room was very nice, with a good view over the bay, and the garden. The room and bathroom were spotlessly clean, and well equipped. The Lemon Tree is within easy walking distance of the bay, the beach, the Whalewatch centre, and shops. Also the museum, which sounds boring but it was really interesting and well done, so is well worth a visit. Breakfast is delivered to your room, because there is no general dining area, and was fine although could be improved. The hosts were very nice, and we enjoyed our two nights there. So although a couple of minor points, we would still rate the Lemon Tree excellent and recommend it.

Room Tip: Some rooms face the "courtyard" garden, which is pretty, but we recommend a sea view room.

Unfortunately only got to stay here for one night on our tour of New Zealand. What a beautiful b&b with an amazing view over the ocean. The accomodation was lovely and clean and bright with lots of special touches. The shower in the bathroom was great and there was also a rolled top bath. Outside was a decking area where we sat and enjoyed the simple complimentary continental breakfast.
A short walk down the path brings you into the town with bars and restaurants.
A beautiful place to stay and well recommended.

A comfortable stay in a room with an outside decking area overlooking the ocean. During our stay the cloud never lifted so we were unable to view the mountains. Breakfast was delivered to us and was very good. A handy location for the whale watching station and the Main Street for restaurants and cafes.

Absolutely Stunning views over Kaikoura township & just a 5 minutes walk to town. The owners are lovely.
It was quite expensive for a ‘studio’ type room but most likely due to it being over the new year period. Yummy breakfast in the morning too.

We had a lovely ocean view suite with a nice big bathroom and a roll top bath! We also had hot tub access which was a lovely honeymoon treat. Breakfast was delivered every morning and whilst not massive, it set us up for a day of activities each morning. The only criticism is that the curtains in the bedroom are pretty ineffective at keeping the morning sunlight out so we were woken up at 6 every morning by the light. The owners were fab and very helpful telling us all about the local area and setting us up for a great stay. Would highly recommend - lovely place!
