My husband and I stayed at Bayview Homestay in Kaikoura in March 2017 and it was an amazing experience.
The owners Margaret and her daughter are amazing people and we enjoyed very much to share our experiences.
Their life and their stories were so interesting to listen too. Margaret has had more than 30 000 guests and prepared delicious breakfasts for all of them what made this stay even more special.
The place is very beautiful and cosy, with a fireplace for the cold days and all the amenities provided.
The Homestay has a perfect location with a stunning view. Kaikoura it's such a nice place and even with the access difficulties it is worth to enjoy this beautiful little city.
Margaret and her daughter provided us a great local experience and they are always willing to help and make everything for their guests to have a pleasant stay.
The breakfast is also a must of this experience, with homemade bread, fruits from the garden, yoghurt, milk and jam, it was an unforgettable experience.
Bayview Homestay is the perfect place to enjoy the beauty of Kaikoura through a real local experience.

Margaret and Nicky are such caring hosts, providing everything we needed for a great stay. Margaret's garden is a joy to behold and her breakfasts are delicious. Bay-View is up on a hill and the views are stunning. We walked down to sea-level a couple of times. This took longer than one might expect because I had to take so many photos of the stunning views!

We had such a warm welcome from Margaret and her daughters. We were treated like the family. Margaret recommended places to eat in the evening as wel as things to do. Lovely warm sitting room with a wood burner. Margaret is an amazing woman - 86 years old with a wonderful garden that she tends herself and she is obviously very proud of. Our room was very comfortable with a large ensuite. Breakfasts were delicious with home grown fruit and homemade jams made with fruit from her own garden and eggs from her free range chickens. Unfortunately we were only able to stay 2 nights, would have loved to stay longer. Would thoroughly recommend this B and B.

We received a very warm welcome from Janet and her mum Margaret (despite the fact we had made them late for their dinner, as it had taken us ages to drive from Oamaru!). Margaret is a lovely lady, 86 years old, who does all her own gardening - a garden we can only dream about, it is so lovely! Bayview is very quiet and peaceful, away from the town but only a short drive to the eateries and the whale watching. We were in the ensuite, which was a good size with a comfortable bed and a large shower/wet room. We also had use of the large lounge, and there is a kitchen for the use of guests, and a washer/dryer. Margaret gave us a map of Kaikoura and suggested a few restaurants. She also likes her guests to put a pin in her large wall map showing where they come from - some very interesting places!
We had a lovely cooked breakfast and Margaret's daughter Nicky told us to look out for the seals at Ohau Point on our way north.
Margaret clearly loves having guests in her home and Bayview is a lovely place to stay and we would recommend it if you are staying at Kaikoura.

Margaret & Nicky provided a wonderful welcome, great amenities, a beautiful garden and amazing breakfasts! All rooms have doors to the outside. There is a lounge and kitchen area for the use of guests. Also the use of a washing machine. Bay View is situated on the Peninsula and was a nice quiet place. Minimal street lights made it a great place to check out the stars at night. Homemade or home grown everything for breakfast except perhaps the bacon! All this made the place feel like home away from home!
