Although this is a pleasant little place to visit, I recommend you take notice of the board at the entrance stating what activities are open for the day. We visited Saturday and Sunday but there wasn't any rope making, butter making or dressing up for either days, No one in the bakery or print shop. After reading many reviews, our expectations were low and therefore we were not too disappointed. A big thanks to the informative lady in the music shop for demonstrating the instruments and chatting. Also, the blacksmith was great, and the horse and carriage ride and vintage car ride kept the kids happy.

Visited Swan Hill Pioneer Village recently. The village is well laid out in a picturesque setting and contains a great number of buildings, items of memorabilia and historic machinery and cars. Many of the displays are interactive and there are plenty of staff on hand that give explanations of the particular feature they are manning. A very nice way to spend a few hours. I would also highly recommend a trip on the paddle boat PYAP.

We all enjoyed ourselves and spent quite a few hours, enjoy the horse and cart ride and the old fashion car ride too, interesting looking inside all the shops, buildings and churches etc.

An excellent replica historic village with dozens of realistic displays. A must for young and old. Great cafe, vintage car rides, horse cart rides.
A must when visiting Swan Hill.

We purchased out tickets at the Big 4 Caravan Park because they were a little cheaper than at the Pioneer Settlement but either way we thought they were good value for what you saw. The tickets are valid for two days and you are able to come and go as you please through that time. There was heaps to look at and the park was staffed with volunteer staff who obviously loved what they did and were more than happy to share information with us and to demonstrate working equipment. We unfortunately only had a few hours to look around but we made good use of our time and even had a ride on the horse and carriage and the old time car that a volunteer drove around the park. If you have a ride in the car make sure you hop in the very comfortable back seat.

On admittance you enter an out of place modern building selling stuffed toys and postcards, the cashier is wearing 2018 clothing ? Moving outside and into a world of very old decaying machinary and buildings which requires a large amount of repair before it all turns to dust. Most of the buildings were padlocked and the insides were only visible by pearing through windows. The printing shop was closed and if you wanted a poster you had to order it and pay postage. There were no period dressed staff to be found except for in the organ shop (well done) The sweet shop lady was nice to speak with, but she also was dressed in modern clothes. We went to get our photo taken in period dress but, it was closed. The modern out of place cafe played modern doosh doosh music and the staff did not go out of their way to be friendly. It would have been nice to see the blacksmith shop working. There was nothing happening, I don't think i am asking to much to get something for my $28.00. Perhaps there needs to be a change of management to someone who cares about our herratige before we loose it forever.

I visited here 40 years ago and it was good then. It is even better now with a great café and more to see. The displays are amazing and make you imagine what a street back in the early days of settlement would have been like. The pharmacy had so many old medications. You could spend all day looking at them. There are also old machinery and steam engine displays. There is also a free old automobile ride and a horse and cart ride included in the cost. You can wander through an old paddle steamer. For an extra cost you can go on a paddle steamer ride for an hour which is well worth it. The staff are so friendly and willing to chat. We had a great day and really enjoyed it. Highly recommend,

Expect a slower pace than at Sovereign Hill in Ballarat. We arrived a little too late for the 10am school experience and the next one was at 1pm. As not many other activities scheduled in between, we debated whether to make the 1pm one but was glad we did. My son is a left-hander and was singled out for how left-handed kids were treated in the olden days, and hammered home how different school is nowadays. Very interesting school experience!
There is a photo parlour, dress up in old time clothes and have your photo taken for a reasonable $5 pp, take the pics with your camera. The lady was very friendly but anticipate a long wait for the person before to finish, unless no one else is around.
A free vintage car ride and free horse-drawn carriage ride. The vintage car ride was very comfortable and enjoyable, and the driver gave a good run-down of the whole place. You can also walk around the paddle steamer the “Gem” (docked right beside the train). My son had a lot of fun exploring and hiding in the rooms.
As for the high tech and modern laser show, it was worth travelling from Melbourne for this. Great for kids, my son loved being able to feel the heat from the fire effects and the 'snow' effects. Plenty of seating.
