Quite possibly the nicest steak dinner I've ever had - eye fillet with truffled béarnaise sauce - oh that sauce and meat cooked perfectly. Sides were fantastic and excellent service. My bank account is happy that I live in Sydney. Don't miss out folks!

We had dinner here and the food was overall fantastic! The steak was great (got a porterhouse to share) and all of the sides were awesome.

I communicated that I am coeliac to the waiter (no gluten at all) and he was really helpful in letting me know what was and wasn't able to be made gluten free on the main menu (there was only one or two things I couldn't have)

I was really disappointed that when it came to dessert, he again only listed one or two I couldn't have so obviously we ordered from the remaining dishes to share, but then when the dessert came out he told us that the crumbs alongside the dessert in front of us had gluten in them!

I can't have any gluten at all, so it would have been so much better if these just had have been removed or served in a separate bowl. I ate the side of the desert that hadn't touched the crumbs, but it was a bit of a worry.

It also meant I then lost faith in their understanding of what coeliac means. I wish he/the kitchen had been more mindful as it really left the night on a bit of an anxious note for me.

Overall, if you have no dietary requirements - this restaurant is fantastic and we had a great night. I would go back and just be a bit more insistent that all gluten containing ingredients are not included.

We were really pleased at our choice of Black Cow Bistro for dinner, recommended by both our hotel and where we ate breakfast. Yes, the main offering on the menu is steak, but what steak! There was a good variety of cuts and clear explanations of size etc., and we opted for a dish to share. What a good job that we did - the "New York" was large enough for us and was so tender and tasty. Washed down with a decent Sharmans we could not have been better pleased. Not inexpensive but excellent value for money.
