Right away our experience was amazing. Being from the United States, we didn't have the best means of transportation, so Glenn picked us up to go kayaking. We went to a beautiful location in the Hunter Wetlands National Park and Glenn got us prepared for a cold day on the water. Even with it being winter here, the animal life was amazing. From pelicans to eagles to jellyfish, there was never a dull moment. Glenn was an amazing tour guide who knew almost everything there was to know about the nature in that area. After our hours of being on the water, we made our way back to land, packed the gear away, and Glenn drove us right to the train station so that we could make our commute back to Sydney. I highly recommend School of Yak; it was really an unforgettable experience!

We had a really memorable day with Glen on the water. The kayaks are very comfortable and Glen is an excellent guide. The areas bird life is amazing, we watched a display by a group of White-bellied Sea Eagles that was spectacular and the paddle back to base as the sun was setting was magical.

Who knew Australia's largest protected wetland was 10 min north of Newcastle? Glenn, whose life has been colorful enough to rate a run on the ABC's Conversations podcast, will take you through majestic mangrove forests on the huge tides. Go!

I thoroughly recommend School of Yak if you are in or around the Newcastle area and would like to kayak. Glen was enthusiastic, professional - obviously highly experienced -and great company! I will definitely be doing this again!

From the moment I contacted Glenn to arrange a 25th anniversary surprise kayak tour for hubby, I knew we were in good hands. Glenn was wonderfully accommodating and enthusiastic with the planning - and indeed hubby recieved quite a surprise when we arrived at the launch area.
Glenns professionalism, patience and love of kayaking and nature shone brightly throughout the entire half day eco tour through Hunter River Wetlands. We were treated to a feeding dolphin close by, witnessed the majesty of a sea eagle watching us from his branch then taking flight into the marsh, plus having numerous migrantory birds pointed out as we paddled along taking in spectacular scenery. Glenn's love and knowledge of nature was inspiring, as was a history lesson (complete with photos) during our morning tea break. After morning tea were more adventures, spotting another sea eagle in flight near it's nest high in a tree. Unfortunately an unpredicted wind picked up as our tour was drawing to a close, which as novices was quite confronting for hubby and I, however Glenn's professionalism, knowledge and directions had us back at the lauch site in no time.
If kayaking is on your 'one day' list, strongly recommend School of Yak.
