From the moment I contacted Glenn to arrange a 25th anniversary surprise kayak tour for hubby, I knew we were in good hands. Glenn was wonderfully accommodating and enthusiastic with the planning - and indeed hubby recieved quite a surprise when we arrived at the launch area.
Glenns professionalism, patience and love of kayaking and nature shone brightly throughout the entire half day eco tour through Hunter River Wetlands. We were treated to a feeding dolphin close by, witnessed the majesty of a sea eagle watching us from his branch then taking flight into the marsh, plus having numerous migrantory birds pointed out as we paddled along taking in spectacular scenery. Glenn's love and knowledge of nature was inspiring, as was a history lesson (complete with photos) during our morning tea break. After morning tea were more adventures, spotting another sea eagle in flight near it's nest high in a tree. Unfortunately an unpredicted wind picked up as our tour was drawing to a close, which as novices was quite confronting for hubby and I, however Glenn's professionalism, knowledge and directions had us back at the lauch site in no time.
If kayaking is on your 'one day' list, strongly recommend School of Yak.

With absolutely no experience in a Kayak, we booked a trip around the Hunter Wetlands National Park hoping for a nice time on the water, where we might get to see some wildlife. The first attempt was cancelled waterside due to high winds (we were very grateful). Our second go was to be a ridiculously hot September day. Our day was magic, cloud cover, light winds and Glenns masterful use of the tidal flows had us cruising comfortably. Any trepidation we had was put at ease once Glenn had us in our safety vests and taught us Kayak paddling 101 before we climbed on board.
Hunter wetlands are truly special, and Glenn is the perfect guide. My husband is retired & we work in offices so we were a bit worried how well we would manage the physical side of this adventure. At no time did we feel stupid, Glenn has the patience of a saint and he knows these waters well so we were navigated around risks and guided to see great vistas while Glenn pointed out the various birds and told the stories of early settlers, life on the islands and the impacts on the environment. Glenn's life story is intertwined with this great environment and is in itself a fascinating tale.
We had a perfect day in the cathedral of nature, so unbelievably close to a working harbour and large city. We've never been in a wetland, or in a kayak, we would definitely do both again. Glenn's got a great sense of humour & he kept us entertained all day. He's definitely the right man for the job and I'm very jealous of the 'office' he gets to work in.

Would recommend for everyone. Had high hopes that the two decade nightmare would end when told we would be in the two seater "Divorce Canoe", but alas this was not the case. Unfortunately Glenn knows his stuff, and knew that the wind in our first location would make it too easy for us to put up a sail and ignore each other, so took us to the tragically gorgeous Dora Creek instead. The lack of wind and beautiful surroundings made us unable to argue with each other and instead improved our communication by admiring the scenery and wildlife. Glenn's instruction was so on point that even when a passing speedboat's wash could have ended our 20 year epic in the drink, we cruised through with nary a spray. Not even some foul stench near the factory could divert our attention from the wonderful Dusky Cormorants, White-bellied Sea-eagles, and Yellow-breasted Robins. The forecasted increased wind on the return was not in our sails, and neither she nor I had the bluster to propell our boat with calculated insults and swipes at each other as the beautiful day had taken our breath away

Visiting a friend in the area for her birthday and was looking for something fun and special to do. Glenn was a fantastic tour guide. Unfortunately weather made our initial launch site a poor choice. Glenn sorted out a new location and had us on the water for our adventure. Two Mums, with a history of some young adventure under our belts, we were a little nervous but Glenn was very encouraging and even had us sailing our kayaks downwind! Wish we had a photo but it requires 2 hands. Glenn is such a wealth of local information.

It was our first time trying Kayaking. But Glenn made us feel really comfortable and it was such an enjoyable experience along the harbour. Glenn explained views and sites of newcaslte as we kayak along the harbour as we are not from Newcastle. I highly recommend Glenn to anyone who wish to try out kayaking. I personally thank you Glenn and wish to see you next time!
