“Awesome Skiing Holiday!”
Reviewed 11 August 2009

We were dispersed between a group of 12 people (friends, friends of friends). All travelling together but separately. Got to see a range of accommodations - from friends staying in backpackers, motels and self contained units.
So many things to do! Gondola, Food, Wine, Bungy, Food, Deer Park, Ski, Paragliding, Food, Milford Sound, Wanaka, oh did I mention food?
Not sure if it was all the skiing we did, but the quality of food, from bugers at Fergburger to a steak at Botwana Butchery - everything was DEVINE!
We all had an awesome time. Great friends and great vibe about the place too. Everyone is so friendly.
Would recommend to all!

“I didn't want to leave!!!!!”
Reviewed 18 July 2009

If you are going to New Zealand you have to make time for Queenstown!!! It was the most beautiful place in the world!! Lots of fun and adventurous things to do!! Check out my profile to see pictures and reviews of all the fun stuff we did. We went bungy jumping, white water rafting, and to Milford sound with the milford sound barbeque bus-which were my favorite parts! I suggest staying at Hippo Lodge, especially if you are on a budget...i wrote a review for them too because we liked it there a lot and it was super cheap. Just driving to queenstown was so beautiful we kept getting out of the car to take pictures!! We finally had to stop pulling over or we would have never gotten to Queenstown!! FYI driving takes longer on the south island than you think it will because there are so many mountains that even though it may not look that far on a map add an hour and a half to your estimate-especially thru Arthurs Pass. Try flying into Christchurch-it gave us way cheaper flights to the south island, then we drove to Franz Josef Glacier then down to Queenstown then Te Anau & Fiordland National Park. Looking back now I wish we would have had time for Wanaka and Nelson before coming to Queenstown.

“Queenstown New Zealand”
Reviewed 3 June 2009

We travelled to Queenstown from Australia, where we had a great time and thought that Queenstown would not be quite as good, however it was wonderful.
By good luck we used a minivan to pick us at the Airport (there were 5 of us) GLENORCHY AIR, it turned out that they also did air tours of Milford Sound, Mount Cook and Penquin colonies so we booked a flight. It was amazing the whole experience was the highlight of our holiday. They picked us up at our apartment and dropped us back off there, and as we had had such a good time we decided to book them to give us a land tour of the area, local villages and vineyards etc which again was excellent. In fact we used them nearly as a taxi to take us around. They are a family business so you felt very safe.
Our apartment overlooked the lake, PEEBLES absolutely fabulous views, resturants in the area were good espiecally an Italian at the Landing where the Steamer leaves, that again is a lovely trip. There is a Grand Piano in the bow and every-one stands around it singing on the return journey.
We bought some lovely leather goods and wool goods what more can I say just can't wait to go back.
Lots of exciting sports in the area, and of couse wonderful wildlife.

“2 Visits to Queenstown”
Reviewed 30 May 2009

Oct 2008 my spouse and I (both over 60) visited Queenstown. We loved it. First time we stayed at BBH Butterfli Lodge. Comfortable budget accommodation, a small kitchen and limited lounge seating when there is close to a full house but wonderful views offset this when only staying for a short period.
The cable car is well worth the experience and the luge is great fun. Recommend both. A visit to Arrowtown we thoroughly enjoyed both for the stroll around the main street and the walk on the river pathway which is serenely pretty.
On the return visit we opted to stay at the lakefront YHA, a wonderful position and we had a great room. Facilities were very comfortable, the kitchen was very good but there were problems with the housekeeping staff which hopefully have been resolved since our visit. We took a day trip to Glenorchy which included a visit to the Dart River bridge and the circuit walk around the Glenorchy Lagoon we recommend. Despite comments I had read aplenty about Queenstown being only interested in the tourist dollar we enjoyed our visits, found many enjoyable strolls and the views are wonderful, I never tired of gazing at The Remarkables or Lake Wakatipu.

“My trip to New Zealand”
Reviewed 9 April 2009

We've been travelling a lot and found NZ to be pretty simple to get around and the locals are easy to deal with. The weather was a bit mixed and summer was't what we hoped for but overall the trip was good value.

We flew into Christchurch and spent a night at the Continental, I would recommend it, good staff and easy to get out and about.

We hired a campervan from Maui, pretty expensive but it drove well, even if the other drivers didnt!

Next stop was Queenstown and the Crowne Plaza. What a place! Loved the scenery and mountains, a big change from home (Devonshire-UK). The porter and valets were fun and really helpful. We ate at 2 restuarants in the town. The best was the Bunker, if you can find it! The food was amazing and the fire place and upstairs bar were like something ot of a James Bond movie, very cool. We also ate at the Mexican place, also pretty good, with big tasty portions.

The trip up the Gondolas is worth the $17 and the veiw is worth a million pounds. Parking is a pain in the backside as its mainly pay parking and the town planning seems bizarre. Its small enough to walk about so its not too bad.

Te Anau is a must, but make sure you get the right bus company. We had a grumpy driver and hardly said a word the whole trip.
Milford track was hard work for a couple like us, but amazing and well worth a few days with bad knees and a few aspirin!

We are leaving here soon, so will update the rest of the trip later. So far, so good!
