My wife and I stayed at this lovely boutique hotel for four nights. We arrived after 15 hours from Los Angeles and were lucky enough to be allowed to head straight for our room.

The hotel was doing some construction and its beautiful façade was covered by scaffolding but the compensation was that this quite little hotel is going to have even more beautiful rooms when the renovation is completed.

The staff are some of the nicest people I have ever encountered and we felt like family immediately. We are both vegans and the breakfast cook went out of her way to make us special dishes and some wonderful almond bread. She even made us some vegan canapés for the complimentary cocktail hour which begins at 6pm

I did not rate QPBH very good because I have a personal preference for carpeted rooms although I know they are much harder to maintain, otherwise I can't think of a single thing that didn't either fulfill or anticipate our wishes.

Room Tip: All the rooms were clean and sparkling. Upper floors have a better view. Take a walk along the shores of the small nearby stream.

Length of stay: 2 nights

Room type: Special double

Highlight: Happy Hour from 3-7pm with free flow of red and white wine and canapés.

We received warm welcome from the reception lady( I forgot her name) . After she guided us to the room, she brought us two glasses of Kiwi Pinot noir and some candy to enjoy.

Rooms with good size and mountain view.
Convenient location which require only 5 mins walk to the down town .

The breakfast was fantastic , they would cook right after you ordered, not those Pre cooked buffet breakfast.

Overall, A Wonderful stay!

We thank you so much for your kind words. So pleased you enjoyed you stay with us and our convenient location.

We’ve recently revamped our breakfast menu, so it is great that you found our freshly cooked breakfast to be fantastic.

Our Happy Hour or pre-dinner drinks and canapes is from 6pm to 7pm in the evening however 

Kind regards
Trish

We just returned from a family trip to NZ. We stayed in the 2 bedroom, 2 1/2 bathroom tower apartment with our two teenagers. The hotel is a short walk from the center of town. We tend to like smaller boutique style hotels and when traveling with our kids, look for efficiency and quality. QPH overdelivered. The staff is very international, friendly and makes every effort to attend to your needs. The breakfast is beyond expectations. Carefully prepared gourmet creations are cooked and ready at the time you request. The continental breakfast offerings are also excellent and they make a great latte. Requesting the breakfast time the night before was helpful when trying to get out the door with two kids to go skiing. They also serve very fancy canapes and wine/beer at 6PM which was a nice touch. The 2 bedroom apartment was perfect for us with plenty of living space, a gas fireplace and kitchen if you want to use it. The bedrooms are a tad small but efficiently designed and the beds are very comfortable. The bathrooms are very new and modern with heated towel bars, etc. However, the bathrooms are quite small. And as we have seen in other modern boutique hotels elsewhere in the world, the "wall" between the bathroom and the bedroom is just glass and a slightly sheer curtain. This creates a bit of a privacy issue at times. It wasn't a big problem for us as there were two other bathrooms to choose from in the apartment. And we have seen this design choice in other hotels so maybe we are just prudes? Im not sure why one would design a bathroom that way except to make the most use of space possible, which they certainly do. So the bathrooms are not spacious and not the reason to choose this hotel. But there are plenty of other reasons. We enjoyed our stay and I would recommend it. Another note about the construction...they are undergoing a renovation right now which we knew before we arrived. We made the reservation before the renovations were planned and they called to let us know and asked if we wanted to relocate. We chose to stay there anyway. When we arrived they asked us again if we were sure we wanted to stay and they were happy to move us to another location if we were at all disappointed. We didn't really care so stayed. Our apartment was not really affected by the work going on the outside of the building and we were literally gone every day from 8:30AM - 5PM so didn't even see any actual work happening. But the materials and the scaffolding are around. If you think this will disappoint you, take it into consideration. Since this was a family trip, we didn't really care about the ambiance of the outside of the building and prioritized the features of the 2 bedroom apartment which is not easy to find.

I had really wanted to stay here as I knew that some showers had glass ceilings. We were notified a month ago about their building renovations and assured that we our room wasn’t overly affected. At the time they offered us free breakfast to compensate.
Upon arrival it was apparent that the entire hotel was wrapped in scaffolding, including outside of our room. This did nothing for the ambiance. We also discovered that the glass ceiling now had a covering of plywood, presumably so builders couldn’t look in.
Our room rate had been dropped but we were still disappointed as it was our honeymoon and I knew how great the hotel was from a previous visit.
Kudos to the owners and staff. Our room price was dropped further and we also received an excellent bottle of local Otago sparkling wine.
You can not fault the staff here. Courteous, friendly, accommodating and helpful.
The rooms and the general design of this hotel are ingenious. No more than 2 rooms share a foyer which means plenty of privacy.
We were situated on the road side and I knew about the issues some guests had with noise but we didn’t think it was excessive.
The evening canapes and red wines at 6pm are a great way to meet staff and other guests.
I would highly recommend this hotel and can’t wait to see how the extra rooms will increase it’s popularity.

This is a wonderful boutique hotel right next to the Queenstown action! Staff is wonderful and friendly and they make the effort to know you and treat you well. Unfortunately, renovation was going on when we were there, which made it noisy and affected our sleep.

I’ve still rated the hotel highly purely because I expect exceptional service and good clean rooms when renovation is complete. Breakfast was very good. Also, the hotel is at a walking distance from the center city, which is a major plus point. Cost could become a consideration if you are traveling on a medium/ low Budget- don’t expect it to be the cheapest place available.

Good luck to Fran and team and hope to see them soon!

Best wishes!
